Motherboards frying

FYI, my old PSU fried my last motherboard.

Thanks for the encouragement everyone..I thought I was going crazy or something else was causing the dead MBs. I'll report back when I get the new one.

this is a little off-topic but I went through 3 320gig new hard drives in a month and each one started making clicking noises after a week or so and the culprit was a faulty power supply. when I finally racked my brain trying to figure what the heck is going on I removed the power supply and little plastic balls fell out of the fan lol so it was definately have some kind of electrical demons. the computer ran fine tho except for the hard drives slowly burning out.

once I replaced the power supply I never had another problem and a couple hard drives still work but I won't trust then anymore

Were those 320gig drives all Seagates? They had a batch a while ago that had that problem.

New MB came in, has been running for at least 3 hours with the newer P/S. Gonna cross my fingers as I go to sleep tonight..

If you're anything like me, you'll be extremely tempted to test the old power supply one more time just to see if it REALLY has the ability to fry motherboards. The temptation will drive you nearly insane. Fight it! Resist!
Throw away the old power supply... don't leave it on the shelf just in case it really isn't bad. It may well not be bad, but it's not worth finding out.

Dude, you know me so well. I wasn't going to test it, but I was going to shelf it :eek:!

hahah..it's going in the trash for sure now..the rig is still running, we'll see how it does tomorrow..
