I love the drive bay idea. I use one in my PC and it's great for multi booting.I didn't view the video as I'm at work but do they have a ballpark price? I hope it runs cooler as well.
Ahhh, upon further review, they aren't talking price but here's more info in detail: http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...?tid=23731 Paul Custom ASUS Maximus X Hero, 16 GB Memory-ASUS GeForce 1050 Ti, H115i Pro AIO, 850W PS, CM H500P case, Corsair Vengeance RGB Ram, Samsung 970 EVO, HDHomerun Prime & Extend Tuners- running Windows 10 (and other goodies)

They have posted the price at $299 at popcornhour.com now, it is targeted as a higher-end product. Note they also post GB-PVR as a supported web server, but mvpmcx2 support has not been confirmed.

Thanks Martin, I did notice that GBPVR was listed.
I wonder if we'll see an upgraded version of the A110 using the newer Sigma chip that the C200 uses? Paul

The design difference is way more than just the chip so that is unlikely. There will be no doubt be cheaper hardware with better Sigma chips (the Hauppauge HD MVP comes to mind although it might use a lower powerful SMP865x chip) and devices cheaper than the A 110 like the xtreamer (xtreamer.net RealTek 128x) but it unlikely that I will do another port of emulation mode without a really good reason. The C-200 is attractive if it does do commercial DVD/BD and GBPVR from one box otherwise the A110 is still an extremely powerful box for typical HD.

Martin,
What is your opinion of eventually playing a commercial BD disc (not ripped, actual disc in BD drive) from a server using GBPVR/NMT? Just curious. Thanks.

Eventually is a long time but for now I think AACS is going to prevent that for the near term. There isn't a linux solution yet which usually proceeds a Windows version and the fact is that only Slysoft is making software for Fair Use backup now. Likely if there is a network solution it will be SlyPlayer first. Probably just best to make real backups for now.
Getting back to the C-200 since it is AACS compliant it will have limitations and the reality is BD drives are falling in price, the new Liteon is $75 CDN problably less in the US, so if your prime motivation is saving money I don't think that is really that cost effective much longer. Martin |
