Rather than hijacking trummel's thread on lircd further, it is still very valid and a good project on it's own, I have updated post one with a new lircd supporting the PCH, Hauppauge and now the MCE remote and moved a few posts here.

Code:
MCE Key       PCH Key

Recorded TV   Red
Guide         Green
LiveTV        Yellow
DVD Menu      Blue
*             TimeSeek
#             Zoom
Clear         Home
Enter         Subtitle (Radio in PCH2 mode)
Windows       Source

Here are some MCE layouts

Does that apply even though the mce keyboard is entirely IR?
I remembered this http://mod-mce.sourceforge.net from my days using mythtv.
I know there are not many places in GBPVR were a keyboard is essential, but I like the MCE keyboard, cus its got good range and is so big, it can't slip down the side of the sofa! I already use it on 1 gbpvr slave and it would be cool to use it with the PCH as well. I'm quite happy to do the key coding if Martin can make his tools available and maybe point me in the right direction.

kyb.c would be applicable if MS provides an IR receiver that turns it into a USB HID bit if it is just a remote with 100+ keys that is different. Keyboard handling is more difficult because of the state (alt, ctll, shift) and press up/down/repeat logic so I don't see how all this would all work with the current irscan logic. You are probably better off trying to figure out an lircd.conf solution.

Martin,

I've just been using the MS remote in anger for the first time on my PCH. It's brilliant. Because it has programmable volume and TV power keys, I can do everything I really want to do with 1 remote. Plus it's nice to use, with a sensible layout and backlit keys so I can drive it in the dark. I strongly recommend anyone who has one lying around to try it with the PCH. Plus unlike the Hauppauge one, it doesn’t repeat too fast and it seems to be picked up better by the eye on my A110 than the PCh remote is.

Good job, thank you again.

Thanks, even the programming changes were a dream, they were all very logically close together.

This got me thinking (that I might need an option other then power to get me back to the PCH software. Any suggestions?

Maybe sub can activate the "exit" option in the menu. It's there on the PC, why not on the NMT?

Great solution Chris. I forget I've had requests for this because the Power key is not intuitive. All sub has to do is close the sockets.

Actually it's not a problem on the mce remote because it has 2 power buttons, 1 for the PC(NMT) and a programmable one for the monitor/TV. It also has programmable volume controls that I can use for my tv volume or surround sound amp.
