Up until now, I've been using the spacebar of my keyboard (plugged in via keyboard port) to wake my HTPC manually. I just got one of these remotes to wake up my PC via USB. It basically functions as a keyboard and requires no drivers. I comes with a USB receiver that I put next to my PVR-150 IR receiver. My hopes were to use both remotes in the same activity on my Harmony remote, but I can't seem to get the new USB remote to wake up the PC. I have an older ASUS P4P800 MB and it has jumpers on it to enable waking via USB and I've also ensured the settings in the device manager allow the device to wake the PC. Can anyone think of anything Ive missed?

Check the USB hubs/devices in Device Manager and make sure that they are not set to "Allow Windows to turn off power to this device".

My devices had that option off, but I didn't think of the hubs. I turned that option off for those, but didn't make a difference. Anything else? Thanks

There could be a setting in the bios that turns this on and off.
AMD Athlon 64 3000, HDD: 80, 120, 200 GB, Hauppauge 350 + 150, MVP, Asus 6000L Laptop client, Asus X50sl client,
Fritz!box 7140 modem/router, GBPVR 1.3.7.

Sorry, I missed where you said that. You can try enabling support for legacy USB devices in the BIOS if it's disabled. If it's set to "Auto", change it to "Enabled".

I had to check, but both those BIOS settings are like that already.

the wake from usb only works for one key on the mce remotes, the power key...
pressing any other key doesn't wake up pc..
but this doesn't look like it is a mce clone, more likely a HID device like a keyboard and sounds like they've played with the power button also so that means it's not emulating a mce remote *or* keyboard, so hardware dongle probably isn't designed to turn on pc...

what does it show up as in device manager?
if it's HID keyboard or remote style, it would have to have extra circiutry to enable the hardware to recognize that one key and send power-on to pc...normally key recognition is all done by pc, it just sends what it recieves on to pc to analyze...but to power on, it needs to know how to recognize keys all by itself without pc help...

i believe this is why only one key code on mce remotes is programmed to power on..
and most other simple remote dongles can't do power on..

also, if your old keyboard was a ps2 port, then you might not have the windows bios hacks needed, try "MCE standby tool" as it has some fixes you can try to get usb wake working as some motherboards need them for usb wake to work at all..

and set in bios power management, to wake from usb and keyboard and mouse and PME/PCI/PCIE devices..
Hardware: HDHR Prime, HDPVR 1212, Raspberry pi2, VFD display w/LCDSmartie

Thanks so muc for the detailed reply.

This remote shows up in the device manager as a USB keyboard & USB mouse. I tried everything you suggested in your post and installed the MCE Standby Tool, but still nothing. Looks like I'll have to upgrade my motherboard if I want this remote to wake up my PC.
