Its so bad that Dscaler is so good!. When you go out looking for an alternative, you find none, if you ask in forums you get the obvious answer "why don't you try Dscaler?"
Well, it just happens that Dscaler does not support ALL cards. Theater 550/650 pro based tuners, for example!.
Please note that using a tuner or capture card to play games IS POSSIBLE. Unless you're some freak with very good and veery fast eyes
If you don't belive me, get a simple capturing software such as VirtualVCR or even Virtualdub and add a simple deinterlacing method (such as showing only even frames or blending fields) and you WONT get such a big LAG.
So!, In case you think I'm answering to my very own question... I'm afraid I've never been able to resize the input on the fly with virtualdub/virtualVCR. So! The input resolution is limited to the native resolution (in my case, theatrix 650pro NTSC this means 720x480) so you have to play in a small square in the center of the screen if you got a standard resolution like 1680x1050 =P
My solution is not very neat, I slide the resolution down to 800x600 to play PS2 games
But I'm still looking for a better solution out there. I just knew a PVR software like GB-PVR won't help much, this kind of programs are designed for a totally different purpose. But I just wanted to approach a community full of people who are in touch with tuners and software for them...
:o Just in case anyone asks.... my kitchen TV said goodbye a few months ago, and I decided to put my room's TV in the kitchen. (I don't watch TV that much that's why). So, I'm looking forward to make use of my 22" lcd while I get some cash for a new TV.
I've been trying "Mythbuntu" (for TV watching) with a SAA based card but I got so many headaches that when I saw GB-PVR I decided to try it...
