DVB-C questions

So. My cable provider has decided to shutdown the analogue services which finally forces me over to digital...

The digital service is subscription only, so, after reading a few threads here, and some googling, I've got a couple of questions before I rush ahead and buy stuff:

1. If I'll use the MultiDec plugins (and a card reader), do I need a tuner card with CI/CAM or is that just unnecessary?

2. I know the analogue cards convert the signal to mpg2 internally, but how does the digital cards work? I've read a lot about .ts files but that is the raw data, correct?

3. What would be the computer minimum requirements if I have two digital cards? Does it even matter much?

4. Any recommendations on what DVB-C tv-card to get? Since it's digital I'd imagine that the difference in image quality between the cheap and expensive cards is a bit less than for analogue cards?

Anyone have any info about the other questions (2,3,4)?
Need to know what's handled by the tv-card and what's handled by the computer. I.e. do I need a beefy machine...

MultiDec plugins dont need a tuner card with CI module. The next release will support some CI modules though for those that would prefer to use these instead of multidec plugins.

In the case of digital tv, the broadcaster has already encode it to MPEG-2 (or H.264) prior to transmission, so that app is effectively just recording the already encoded broadcast.

For standard def channel it'd be about the same machine requirements as your analog cards in the past.

Im not yet running gbpvr but I have a KNC ONE TV-Station DVB-C which does a good joob, Technisat cards are also often mentioned, dunno if they are good though. Make sure it can handle H.264 I guess it's necessary for HD. You also may require a CI-Slot.. which are not always included.

This Azurewave/Twinhan DVB-C card has a CI....that will be supported in next GBPVR release, according to Subs post.
Scan files work with ComHem and Tele2Vision in Sweden.

I am having trouble finding some channels on ComHem (Stockholm).
I found a list of frequencies and QAM on another Forum (http://74.125.77.132/search?q=cache:R4o_...&ct=clnk):

The channels I am missing (perhaps a few more but these I miss):
BBC Lifestyle
BBC Knowledge
TV4 SciFi

Is it possible that the ini-file is missing some entry (when I look in the ini-file for ComHem BDA it only states QAM64 but looking in the list below it states QAM256 aswell. I am not quite sure what the difference is but i sure sounds like some settings are missing in the ini.

I am using two FloppyDTV with CI and all channels are working, only those I cannot find during scan. Tried a Manual scan with Freq: 450000 Mod: 6875000 QAM: 256

Then it found several TV4 SciFi but nothing else on that Frequency.
Would really like to find these channels (my TV can find them OK so they do exist).

I tried changing the .ini-file and managed to scan a some more channels. But not all of them. I attach the config.exe.log and my ini-file.

I do not know how the ini-file works, therefore I just added increments to the s-numbering in the file. But at least BBC Lifestyle is still missing...

What frequency are the channels you're missing? I'll look in the logs to see if it scanned that frequency, and check if it locked a signal.
