CPU too hot?

I'm building my machine now, and haven't even set up GB-PVR yet, however I've noticed that my Athlon XP 3000+ Barton is running around 49 degrees C while idle. This seems warm to me. Granted, it's on stock cooling, and I only have 1 case fan, but the computer is in the basement, which is a fairly cool room. Is this something I should be concerned about?

my celeron d 330 runs idle at 49-50C, and when playing back mpeg2 files around 61C. it doesnt crash, yeah its hot, but oh well.

That's actually not too bad for a processor. Although 60 is a little high.

You might want to try taking the heatsink off the processor, clean both the processor and the heatsink of the thermal compound and dust. Then get some Artic Silver or other high performance compund and reapply with a thin layer spread evently across the processor surface so you get the best contact.

I have an AMD 2500+ with a Pipe101 and it runs at 44.

yeah i need to get a better cooler, its on the todo list. i dont really see it as a big deal (ive never had a cpu die on me, but theres the first time for everything ).

Running an AMD 64 3000 it runs at about 29 degrees C,

but having just installed speedfan to quieten my system down it would appear that my PVR350 is running at an extraordinary 110 degrees C, I have never had a problem with the card but it certainly is very hot to touch.

I'm not sure if speedfan is misreporting the tempreture or not

Could anyone else let me know what temp their card is apparently running at

110 degrees C isn't just hot to the touch, it'll burn you pretty quickly. That sounds like it's mis-reported to me.

I don't know exactly, although I could attach a temp probe to it, I will do that tonight, but I know my 150 runs pretty hot. Last time I took my computer apart it was definatrly hot to the touch. After I discovered that I moved the cards around so I could give it some space.
