2 HDHomeruns 4 tuners

Is there a way of using 2 HDHomeruns to have a 4 tuner setup on the same PC in GBPVR. Lets say to record 3-4 programs at once or record 3 while watching 1?

Or do I need to run 2 PC's each with an HDHomerun?

Do you mean multi-record? Why have you not upgraded to 1.3.11?
I have 1 HDHR and an HVR2250 so I can record 4 QAM and 2 Analog. Even more with multi-record if your system is robust enough.

You can use two devices. I have 2 devices on my network. The HDHR setup should add all 4 enties to your bda.ini so in the device list you should see:

I recommend upgrading to a gigabit switch if you haven't though. Also, as Paul mentioned, if you are using QAM, there is the multirecord option when using the TS Mux.

Excellent that was just the answer I was looking for I'm off to buy my 2nd HDHomerun. My entire house is GB eithernet and I just got done re-wiring my cable to get rid of all those nasty splitters so I'm all set.

You kinda confused me there for a sec. I'm already on the latest and greatest 1.3.11 and have been recording via HDHomerun's duel tuners for a while now. My question was if GBPVR would support adding another HDHomerun physical hardware box to the network giving me 4 tuners on a single PC.

I think I get what your saying now but I'm still a bit confused. I though I was doing multirecording using 2 tuners. My tuners are QAM but I'm not quite understanding what ts mux is or how it fits into my configuration.

Right now I can already record 2 shows at the same time does this mean I'm already using ts mux?

My system is a 3.0GHZ quad core with 4GB of memory so it is very beefy and can support this.

Sorry if I sound a bit dence asking these questions.

Multi-record is a bit different than using multiple tuners to make multi-recordings. If you had only a single tuner, you could still use multi-record to record all the channels broadcast on a specific frequency. For example, you cable company might transmit ABC, CBS, NBC all on the same QAM frequency, and using multirecord you'd be able record shows on all these channels at the same time even with only a single tuner.

Sorry for any confusion on my part, I was looking at your sig but obviously, like many of us, you have multiple systems.
Multi-record as sub mentioned, works well for me up to a point. Seems that even on my strong system, I have some signal issues when trying to record too many at once using the multi-record feature.
In config, go to the Misc2 tab and look at the BDA Multiplexer and make sure the 'Enable Multi-Record support' is checked and the drop down shows TS Mux option.

Ahh.... Now I understand, but unfortunitly this would'nt work for me because my system broadcasts E.G. abc1, abc2, abc3 on the same frequency. All I'm intrested in is abc1.

And if they did broadcast abc,cbs,nbc in the same frequence chances are I would not be interested in all the programs in that stream for that time slot and would thus be stuck with a very large .ts file and I would have to seperate the streams with somthing like videoredo to archive just the content I was intrested in. But none the less it is still very cool that GBPVR can do this.

It doesnt work like that. It doesnt capture the entire stream. You'd end up with separate .ts files, containing just that show. Also, they dont need to record the same times on each, for example, you might record a movie on abc from 8:30 - 10:30, and a comedy on cbs from 9:00-9:30, and something else on nbc from 9:00 - 10:00.

This mainly works for QAM cable in the US, and you might find batches of channels on the same frequency, i have 4 batches of 3 channels each and can record 12 channels at once with my 4 digi tuners

GBPVR will record each channel as a separated file just like it was recorded from a separate tuner, this is the beauti of multi rocording.

So checking multi record will record the entire frequency and ts mux seperates out the channels on the fly putting them into there individual .TS Streams. And will only grab the streams I select lets say via the PPG.

Now this can be useful. I just have to find out what channels are broadcast in what frequencies from my cable provider. I seem to remember running across a site that had that info. I have to do some searching for it.
