2250 MCE remote

I cannot get this thing to work for the life of me. I cant tell if the IR receiver is working or not, is it supposed to light up when it receives something because it doesnt. The reason i ask is im trying to set up HIP using the gbpvr wiki and im pressing buttons when im teachign HIP what to do and it seems like its not receiving anything. Any other 2250 remote users have this problem?

try power button..it should light up even if no driver...[but only that key..]
if it doesn't then it may not be a real mce dongle..
if it does light on power button press, then you probably don't have driver installed right...
are you using standard driver that comes with windows? and remote?
what's on bottom of dongle?
find any software for remote on driver cd?

Im only usng the driver that came with WinTV/HVR 2250 (as this remote came with it). I will attempt to download an MCE driver when i get home, if i can find one.

Sorry, im not down with the jargon....what exactly is a dongle?

I had the exact same problem with my 2250. Did you install the Blaster for MCE? The drive I see install is a IR consumer device. I got it to work with GBPVR when I used the Hauppauge MCE Config blaster program to be used by MCE and the capture device chose MCEBalsterplugin to change the channels. Hip dosen't work in vista 64 so I'm trying eventghost to get the balster to work on the STB. I get everything to work in MCE OK, but cannot get Win7 to find my IR unless I configure it to work with MCE.

I got it to work....with a different combo of things i did, not sure which worked. I thought my IR device was broken to test this i completely installed WinTV to see if it worked, and it did. So it seems the lights on my IR receiver are just burnt out or broken. So I went to GBPVR and it still didnt work so i went to Config under the DVD section and clicked Hauppauge and 45 remote, didnt work. Went back and put MCE remote and redid the button remote thing and it worked. I also set up under the capture devices for the channel changer to use MCE blaster....even though i dont use them but it works on GBPVR now and im really happy because i was gonna be pissed if i had to buy a new remote and IR reciever. I think what helped was installing WinTV and all the IR options that come with it. Not sure though
