Two-part film recording

Here in the UK, ITV (in particular) have a nasty habit of splitting a film in two with the news stuck in between the two parts. This is fine if you spot it but last week I set a recording going thinking it was the whole thing - if I'd scrolled further to the right in the on-screen TV Guide I would have spotted the second part and recorded that too.

What I'm thinking is some sort of intelligent scheduling approach that checks for the same programme title within, say, 30 or 60 mins after the first. It could then automatically record that or perhaps prompt the user as whether or not they wanted to record it. Perhaps this could be done, in particular, for where programmes are shown as category "Film" in the EPG.

Just set EVERYTHING as a "season record" or record all ocurrances on the same channel.
This is how I get parts 1 and 2 (and sometimes 3), even if they're on different nights.

Well you'd think I'd learn too - this sort of thing has been catching me out for the past couple of years even with a TV Guide magazine and my VCR - sometimes when you're in a hurry to go to the pub you don't always read things carefully.

Yes I've been thinking of doing that - it's just a case of getting into the habit of doing so - it feels kinda alien to do it for a one-off recording - or at least what SHOULD be a one-off recording - I hate it when they split films like that.

It generally happens with films or long (2 hour) drama programmes split by the 'scheduled' main news. I believe there is something in UK law that dictates that for a company to get a broadcast licence they must show a main news programme in the same time slot every day. ITV1 have always had a 10pm slot - the BBC (on BBC1) used to have 9pm and there was all sorts of outcry from the public when they proposed moving to 10pm (where it is now and I believe it had to be agreed through government).

The problem comes with what is called the 'watershed' (9pm) which is the time when programmes deemed unsuitable for minors can be shown. In the case of a film which has to be shown after the watershed but is not 'adult' enough to be shown after midnight (for example) this of course means it has to stop for the news due to the TV company's contractual agreement to show a main news programme in a given timeslot.

Swedish too But, as stated earlier, you can always do a reoccuring recording. You just have to remember it ;-) Btw, is there any way to make reoccuring the default?

Happens in Israel in all the major channels!
It's definitely on my wishlist...
