pBS Wrote:well it should end up in k:\ts\originaldir\ and not all in same dir....[unless they were all in same dir on source]
Yes quite right, the original directory is being recreated in the ts folder...

pBS Wrote:now manual recordings are special but i thought they worked with this, but since they don't have any info in database, it looks like it's outputting (no show details) as the filename, tho it shouldn't be with manual recordings...[should be something like 327 TMC_20080916210000.ts [note channel is name of file]
but yours looks like a second chance recording cuz it has a -1 on it...
[those won't be in database, only last one in sequence, usually a -2]
not to mention () is not good to have in filename...messes with dos,etc..
sounds like it was a channel without guide data...

Yes, correct again, I don't have any guide data for the satellite channels. I only use the sat card for the HD channels BBC HD and ITV HD, and from what I can gather ITV HD is not listed in any of the xml guides anyway. Setting up an xml import guide just for BBC HD seems a but OTT, when the DVB EPG works perfectly for everything else...so I record everything manually on the HD channels.
Using XML tv guides is something I would like to do - but get the impression it's not easy and will just be something else that could go wrong!
I cannot fugure out why some manual recordings are called 'no show details...' and others start with the channel name, but it seems random and I do have both types in my manual recordings folder....

hmmm, well not sure why yours have a (no show details) at beginning of filename, it's not something gbpvr normally does... it should always add the channel number on the filename..
you probably imported those using some util, which isn't following normal conventions..
or it's picking up the dvb guide data that's saying "(no show details)" so it uses it, as it *is* guide data...just not very informative...

so i'm thinking turning off the dvb guide data for those channels they'll get the normal channel filename...Smile [tho that might no be feasable in your setup]
is it *always* "(no show details)"? if so i can account for that special case...
let me know and i'll adjust the batch file to handle them properly..

I see now - you hit the nail on the head as I do have the HD channels in the guide, but each hour is listed as 'no show details'. So it is the way I am starting a recording that dictates how it is named;
If select a 'no show details' in the TV guide and choose record, it is recorded with that name.
If I set a manual recording from the recordings screen, it starts with the channel name, as you expected.
I had assumed if a channel was not listed in the guide, I could not watch or record it...

well, if it comes from the guide it shouldn't have any problems, tho i'll have to check to see if the brackets are giving it fits, [dos uses them alot]
other than that it should be ok...assuming no way to change the message for no show details to not include the brackets..

Just to confirm that the archiver works perfectly, thank you. I think the problem I had with one file was due to me clicking on 'stop' or 'cancel' when it was half way through - I thought it had frozen. Out of interest, why does it take so long to move a file? Instead of the constant chatter from the HDD when moving files in windows, the HDD light just flashes briefly every second or so, and it takes much longer.

not sure, i'm just using a simple 'copy' command from windows, so it should act same...
glad it worked for you, was scared it would have deleted other .ts files when you used it first time before mods..Big Grin

i made it sequential so it could be stopped at any time and not lose anything, first it copies files, then verifies they exist where they should and then adjusts database...
so if copy doesn't go it shouldn't do anything with the db...

yea, i'm thinking that was a freak circumstance but will probably make this an executable instead of batch to take more control over the process...
[more error checking and logging and process control]

SuperSimpleArchiver is great.....I used it as a base to create a drag-and-drop script for my videos as well as another script that my GBPVR transcode process runs on the recordings I record each day.

I only record HD shows in the TS format. Unfortunatly the TS file is almost always riddled with time-line issues. To resolve playback issues I run my TS recordings through a re-mux process that just remove the TS wrapper and puts the recording in a MPEG wrapper....this corrects almost all the time-line issues.

If anyone is interested I have attached my drag-and-drop script. Simply place it on your sytem, set the variables at the beginning of the script file to match your system and then put a shorcut to the script on your desktop. Drag and drop a recording to the shortcut and it will transcode the TS file to an MPEG file and then archive it to your desired location.

I can post my transcode script that GPBR uses if anyone is interested in that one.....does the same thing as this drag-and-drop one does.....but is coded slightly differently due to the input coming from GBPVR rather than the drag-and-drop action.

I enhaced the script so that it makes a log for each recording it processes so you can see what occurred and how much time it took.

Example Log File:
Code:
