Just to known: Yes, Microsoft DTV-DVD Decoder is good, becouse it is capable to decode MPEG2/h.264 using DXVA (and use HW deinterlacing), but here comes problem.
If you have ATI GPU and you will try to play some h.264 5.1profile video with more then ?4? (not sure) reference frames, you will see graphics coruption (or complete green screen) and you wont be able to do anything with this - there is no option to disable DXVA.
PowerDVD h.264 decoder works similar, but have ability to disable DXVA.
To fix that you can replace ATI with nVidia (but you will loose VC-1 DXVA decoding ability) or reencode video and reduce ref.frames.
MPC video decoder is a lot smarter. This decoder is capable to detect used GPU and switch itself from DXVA mode to software decoding mode. So if you will try to play video with too many ref.frames, MPC decoder auto switch to SW mode and you will didnt notice any coruptions (if you have powerfull CPU).
But (there is always one) MPC video decoders doesnot works with most demlutliplexers wich prevent to use this decoder to be used in GB-PVR/MediaPortal for example.
Good news is, that MPC team should start working on demultiplexers support soon
