We went here ...

http://www.microsoft.com/uk/education/studentoffer/

and bought Windows 7 for £30 and got a good price on MS Office.

It appears that all that is required is a credit card and an email address that ends .ac.uk (and the card and email address don't have to be for the same person).

Edit: Does this post qualify as spam, I apologise if it does. I thought it was a good offer and didn't want anyone to miss it.

As it's in the General Discussion forum and you (personally) are not trying to sell something, then I don't think it can be classed as spam.

Definitely worth it for any UK students or academic staff.

Graham, what are the steps to order? I assume it's download only, can it be burnt to DVD for backup?

I have bought Office through this before. You get a download link for a single installation file (which can then be archived to disk). I would guess for Win 7 you would get a disk image??

You can pay an extra £9 for a DVD. The download for Office is an executable (and optional DVD).

The ordering is much the same as any other online order ... dunno the details ... my daughter did it ... my job was to hand over my card.
