I'm interested in the opinion of anyone who has a MSDN subscription. I am thinking of getting one for my small company. The Operating Systems subscription is $700 (unless I can find a coupon code) but anytime my small business shells out cash, especially in hard times, I question myself.
I'm under the impression that I can activate 10 machines but am not sure if this is allowed for a business or not.
Plus, can just anyone get a subscription or do you have to have special credentials?

The MSDN and TechNet O/S licenses can't be used on a "real" machines for business or personal use which limits their attractiveness for me.

MSDN can only be used for "development" purposes.

If you join the Microsoft Partner programme, you are entitled to some "internal" use licenses depending on which level you're eligible for. Have a look at http://partner.microsoft.com

I'd get a Microsoft Action Pack Subscription....

you get :-

10 x Windows 7 Business, 1 x windows 7 Ultimate, 10 x Office 97 , Windows server 2008, windows server 2003 stand & web, Windows Server 2008 small business eiditon, Exhange, SQL Server, Sharepoint.... and lots more

Here's the complete list from the MS website.
https://partner.microsoft.com/US/program...k/40040015

But what I love about this it's about $250 (£200) per year for internal not production use....

You don't as much as an MSDN subscription but you pay less.
My concern is that all the keys from all the Partner/MSDN subscriptions are not to be used on 'production' systems only test systems. I do test lots for MS but couldn't justify 10 keys. That negates me using it for my business. Business licenses are HUGE $$$$.
Thanks for the info.
