I have been searching the forum to get access to DVB-C subtitles when playing recordings on my PCH A-110. But I have not found any information other than suggestions it will not work, not a big issue but this is one thing I would like to get working if possible.
So I figured the easiest way is to ask: is it possible and if it is, how do I do it Smile

There is no support that I have found for playing the internal DVB subtitle streams directly in mvpmcx2 so you will have to depend on GBPVR. AFAIK, GBPVR only support .srt type subtitles to the MVP and NMT. I discussed using ProjectX here http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=44201 and it does do a good job on text subtitles.

For graphic DVB subtitles in the same thread I explained that it is possible to use an older version of VLC to create a new file with the subtitles on the video, but you could also use ProjectX and an OCR style subtitle creator to make an srt file.

OK, will look into this.
Would have been nice to just press a key to get subtitles (as my kids cannot understand English yet and most movies/programs are not dubbed in Sweden). But I understand you cannot support everything al lthe time Smile

I do know what you want, because I can see the hardware decoded closed captioning in North American media on the analog ports, and it would be nice if this was fully implemented by the hardware, but even on the the PC you need to rely on the software.

In most ways mvpmcx2 just provides a canvas for sub to paint his masterpiece, and sub could do this if he was so inclined. I am currently working with another developer on getting VDR support (a linux PVR with linux & windows client) to the PCH that will have subtitles because as a European developer he is very motivated.

Some of the GBPVR enhancements for 1.5 http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=3...tcount=134 could effectively help a plugin developer place subtitles on top of video you just have to find someone with the interest.

I'll try to explain what i'm after. On my Philips TV I choose Subtitle On/Off when I watch a show with subtitles but when i watch the same show recorded I do not have that choice. I understand that it is because when I watch it live I use the TVConfused tuner and it can extract the subtitles and when I watch a recording the media server (in this case GBPVR) is the one responsible for viewing/displaying subtitles in the media file.

I would like to have the same capabilities with a recording that I have with the TV set, i.e. display or hide subtitles with the push of a button (on the PCH remote as the TV has nothing to do with it). I can fully understand if it is not possible or that it will not happen becuse other things have higher priority, just wanted to ask if it was possible or not Smile

I 100% understand what you want, and it is possible, but this would definitely would be better if it was done by GBPVR not the client.

Sorry, I misread your previous answer as "I don't understand...". I sort of new that it was not up to you. I will post this in Sub's short thread of UI change wishlist :-)
