I have already posted this on the NMT forum but this forum seems to be much more responsive. Thanks in advance.

Hi. I purchased my A-110 last month and have been experiencing the issue below. Thankfully PCH is offering a replacement. I am trying to decide whether this issue is unique to my unit, or all units. I am running the latest firmware.

My 110 uses a wired LAN and frequently stops playing mkv files and requires a reboot (trying to play shows the last frame, and then exists). It is annoying because it is in my living room. It is random, but when it happens, it continues for a whole day. Other times it runs fine. The fix is to reboot.

I can reproduce the problem by removing the network cable from PCH during playback. But my LAN is solid and I do not believe the network is the problem, even though the only way I can generate the problem is to disconnect the LAN. Playback same file from USB drive is fine. I already tried a different network cable and switch. I suspect it may have a defective NIC.

The simple test I am asking a volunteer to do is simply to pull the Ethernet cable from PCH while it is playing back a video file from a network share (smb preferred). The expected behavior is that it will continue to play for a couple of seconds and then stop. Now, reconnect, and ensure that you have network connectivity (browsing shares etc). Try to playback the same file and some other file and see what happens. In my case, the PCH shows the last frame, then quits.

I would greatly appreciate if some one can do this simple test for me.

You definitely wouldn't want to do this test if you were using GBPVR while playing a video, you'd be asking for troubles.

It locks up if running GBPVR, just a blank screen.

I did tell you not to test this.

This could perhaps also explain the behaviour I have experienced, my NMT (running GB-PVR/mvpmcx2) has on numerous occasions locked up (without me removing the network cord).
What happens is that the NMT unit just locks up with a black screen when playing a show. After a power-cycle the exact same video plays just fine. Sometimes it plays good for days and other times it locks several times a day. Have found no pattern in the behaviour, it seems random.

I have not been able to catch any logs from GB-PVR on these occasions and have not posted anything, will do that when I have something to go on.

I have another issue but do not know if that is connected to the crashing of the unit. Sometimes at startup the GB-PVR UI starts fine, but when pressing a key (a single press on the down key for example) to navigate the menu starts scrolling and does not stop. Have no logs of this either, will try to catch that when it happens also and start a new thread on the issue.

I wonder if my unit is bad, it has behaved strange since day one and I returned it once already but the reseller found nothing wrong with it, but hen they did just test that it started once and that has not been the problem. Since I never use the unit without GB-PVR I cannot say if the problem is related to the mvpmcx2/GB-PVR-combo or the NMT hardware/firmware.

forzaKGB your problem sounds unrelated since playing zaldwalk is talking about playing MKV's. There is a GBPVR 1.4.7 bug that could explain some black screens. mvpmcx2 is also very sensitive on some HDMI monitors if you change the source while video is playing.

As for the keys, that does sound like a stuck remote key, we can find that it the logs.

thanks, I heard about the bug and also suspected that to begin with. Sorry I missed the MKV-part, I thought it was all video that he had problems with.

I do not think it is a stuck remote key though, I have had this happen both with the NMT remote and with the old MVP remote I still have (have replaced lircd so I can use that remote too just to be able to troubleshoot this). But I will catch the logs next time and post them in a new thread.

Could you do the simple test by physically disconnecting the network while you are playing back a video file outside mvpmcx2? That way, we can at least see if your experience is similar to mine. Thanks.

Will try this later (perhaps tomorrow) since the family is using the TV right now. Will report the result when I tested it.
