It's tough to volunteer to test something like this. If you feel the hardware is faulty and PopcornHour agree to the RMA, you will always have the feeling there is a problem.
I did a small test without GBPVR I pulled the network plug on my NMT playing audio by SMB and the audio kept playing but when the network reset the NMT screens came back on which is a bad thing, I would expect this to corrupt the video decoder.
I then went to play a video and they would not play. Checking via telnet I see these errors which are are sure sign the NMT has to be powered off.

OpenOutputTableForPlayback failed 9
0_Cannot stop video decoder err=9
