Great new feature. Functions as expected.

Pieter, thanks for testing (and the suggestion!), at least time I really included it. I think I am now ready stop the temporary builds and give this back to psycik so he can package it up as a "real" version.

Martin,

glad to see this finally make it to ML3, does it work recursively ?

Ie once it is located in a folder does its effect happen on all folders below it in a structure

And does it work at run time, Ie if I create the file in a folder whilst ML3 is running then on the next random selection nothing will be chosen from that folder

Yes it is checked at runtime. It is not currently recursive, but it could easily be made that way, it will just slow the random generation down marginally.

This update tries to add a bit more logic into the "norandom.txt" logic

Assuming for the system collection you don't want to include your wife's music by default (she uses a collection because she doesn't like your music or your kid's music) So you block all her music by creating

D:\Music\Wife'sFavourite\norandom.txt

However you really love her Reality TV music so you decide to add

D:\Music\Wife'sFavourites\Reality TV\random.txt

Or course you can still exclude certain artists

D:\Music\Wife'sFavourites\Reality TV\Susan Boyle\norandom.txt

or specific albums

D:\Music\Wife'sFavourites\Reality TV\Clay Aiken\Measure Of A Man\norandom.txt

Interesting. I'll implement and test it later today.
How difficult would it be to extend this logic to allow to include all tracks in proper order in the playlist? We can't do M3U to randomly play albums can we?

Pieter I don't follow. An m3u is ordered by nature, you create the order when you make it. What order are you suggesting? Track order would be weird with multiple folders possible. If you want it in filename order you can just create a new one yourself from the command line

sort < pz1.m3u > pz1sorted.m3u

With tkgafs mode off, Alt-R on a playlist will shuffle it.

Another day, close to the last nightly.

- Lists are now circular meaning you can go backwards with the cursor and page keys to get to the end of file.
- Possible rendering error on first Alt-G
- Alpha-search via NMT USB keyboard in addition to mobile cell-style.
- Full support for NMT keyboard for all ML3 functions (with modified lircd driver)

I am confusing you with mixing what I want, with half-baked solutions. I'll rephrase:
I would like to play my CD's at random. For example first Bach's complete Matthäuspassion (all tracks 1-103 in that order from one directory) followed by Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, etc.
