What was the actual problem you encountered during those restless hours? With the next firmware update, I have worked on the scripts and there is no real configuration necessary to get things going initially and new users can try it out much more easily. mvpmcx2 and GBPVR started negotiating screen capabilities in 1.2.9 too so the only real default problem should have been the potential extra overhead of transcoding.

Nothing earth shattering It was with the gbpvr menus that I noticed it. Movement seems smoother once the right MAC address is in config. With the "wrong" setting there were bits of highlight left behind when navigating the options when coming to play a file (play, delete, close etc).

This is getting annoying now - two in two years.

Well - I bought one of the refurb A-100's a couple of months ago as a standby and occasional use device.
Fired it up yesterday to make sure it was setup for HDMI to take to a friends to show him what they were like and the damn thing is dead when I got there.
Blank screen on composite and component, green light on, I can ping it after a time, but not see they internal web setup page.
Started the RMA process off again.....
I wish they had included telnet in the default installation! (I bet the tech support/RMA guys think the same).

How do you now it's two machine? Maybe you got back the original one!

I'm not even going to bother with the A200 without telnet running on it.

I meant that both my original A-100 had to be RMA'd and now the spare that I had bought from their refurb sale has also died.

It also looks like it is bang on 3 months old so they won't fix it Sad

I have just ordered a refurbed B-110. When I worked as an electronics tech, refurbed boards often had weird intermittent faults that obviously slipped through the system. This makes me nervous about buying anything refurbished, but I figured it was worth the risk. If it turns out to be a lemon, I just hope it shows up within the 3 month warranty period.

I've just had an email saying it has started shipping back.
Certainly, from the UK, the transit time for RMA's is very long in both directions.

I have a feeling (but no real knowledge) that the refurb devices are those that have been RMA'd as dead and the customer supplied with a new one. The dead ones get fixed and sold on through the refurb route. As you no doubt know, fixing a dead device is considerably easier and cheaper than spending a great deal of time fixing intermittent problems and with labour prices, it is probably best just dumping those.

So did they cover it under warranty?

I had to RMA mine twice. Third one has been working well though. Hope I don't have any more problems as the warranty is expired.

Yup, I just got it back with 1 day to spare from the delivery date.
Luckily the delivery date was 17 days from the order data and the warranty runs from the delivery date Big Grin

I would like to know the price of an A100 main board new and refurb price though for future knowledge.

@martin123

so what is your experience? Finally got around to RMA'ing A110, took 10 working days before arriving at PCH HQ. They show receipt as of 12th Feb. How much longer should I hold my breath before they even post back to me? And then what another 10 days waiting for it to come back?

Cheers

Steeb
