Hey,

I read the posts about windows 7 which was helpful, but not complete. I am going to upgrade in a couple of weeks and wanted to find out if anyone know which version is best for this?

First, can I use the 64bit version with GBPVR?

Does anyone have a preference of home vs pro? I read the comparisons, and am not sure if pro will benefit the PVR.

Thanks a ton.

Yes.

I dont know. I've never used Home, but I'm not aware of any reason it wont work with it. I've personally used it with Pro and Ultimate and these worked fine.

if you are using one or more digital tuners, make sure you grab the WizBDAChannelTool & save off your channel mappings before clobber your existing setup.

The config app seems to have issues w/ channel scan in Windows 7 - I could never get it to detect any channels. (although I've heard that using codecs other than the Windows 7 codecs is better).

If you save off your mappings with the tool, you can load them again after re-installing w/o having to go through the channel scan process.

In my case, thankfully, I installed windows 7 to a seperate disk, so I could go back to XP & save off the channel mappings & now it's all good...

Thanks for the advise, but I think I am doing it all from scratch, hardware and software. I may use my existing DB, but that is it.
