I want it to start pvrx2
what driver is it using? i don't have one on my card so there isn't a remote driver on my cd...
but latest releases show a aticir driver atmcirxp.inf and it looks just like my MCE remote no-software trick fom the wiki...nicely commented too.. eg: Quote: \ ; navigationso you should be able to map them using the reference table i gave on wiki.. i would check the key codes already in there to make sure they look similar.. hmm, codes look weird to me...something looks different... looks like codes are just in diff order...keycode is 5th pair, 7th and 8th are the modifiers[ctrl/alt/shft] when normally they are 5 & 6 are mods, 8th is keycode...they all match up kinda then...[but not the modifiers] they are in reversed order.. ati digit "1"= 01, 00, 00, 00, 1E, 00, 01, 01 mce digit 1= 01, 00, 00, 00, 04, 00, 1e looks like ctrl-alt modifier is xx, F5, 01, 00 ctrl-alt-p on power key should be 0C, 00, 00, 00, 13, F5, 01, 00, \ so make a desktop shortcut to pvrx2 and give it hotkey of ctrl-alt-p.. and replace the 0C, ... entry in registry with line above.. i can't tell where in the registry this all ends up, so if you could find it in there it would help.. [only exists in registry if device is installed] then we could map it with a .reg file... ctrl is xx, E0, 01, 00 alt is xx, E2, 01, 00 appcmd is xx, 00, 02, 00, and i *think* shift is xx, E1, 01, 01 [replace xx, with keycode from pdf table] which keys did you want to remap? but this is only on newer consumer infrared remotes.. older rf types or x10 types need diff methods..

Thanks for the reply :-)
remote shows up as hid-compliant consumer control device Microsoft drivers work fine. My keyboard shows up like this also (usb). In control panel/devices and printers it shows up as ATI theater remote receiver. (windows 7) But you can't map anything out. There is a key on the remote that has computer with red in the middle. When I had catalyst media center loaded it would launch it. The power button shuts down the computer and all other keys work in gbpvr and also in media center. Edit : I've tried loading the ati remote driver, it will load but nothing works and is a pain to get installed.
if it works with ms driver, try loading the reg file for mce no-software and see if it changes anything...
[link in my signature] otherwise, without one, i can't be of more help..

pBS you have been a great help to me. I haven't looked at this yet just debugged ts to avi conversion batch file with xproject file repairer.
I will tackle this next.

I think it is using the register entry rc6 remote, but not sure. With intelliremote I get these scan codes for middle keys starting with the red one left to right 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 10 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 80 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 04 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 Home key 08 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 Picture 00 00 00 00 02 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 Last 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 Teletext 00 00 20 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 I'm wondering where these are assigned, they don't seem to be in the registry. Remote scan code to key assignments.

The "i" button does something in media center. I could remap it to F7 if I new what the position is.

I disabled media center and changed the key mapping for power button and the 'i' key but they do not work. Old key values are still being used. I changed the rc6 remote values under current control set. I rebooted. I don't know what to try next.

Creative USB Remote tester Says
Decoders listed in the registry say it is RC6 compatible. Code: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 pBS I loaded Your key codes from the wiki into the registry, but that had no affect. I even changed the down arrow to f7 but no affect. I've search the c drive for *.ir files but there are none. Is there something else to disable?

you need to find out which driver it's using for the remote first...has to be a microsoft mce remote type for the mods to work..
look in device manager for the device driver files loaded, and hardware id's on last tab... those will tell me what type it is an what driver it uses.. it may just be an HID remote...but there are things we can do there also..
