Domain registration

I'm considering leaving my isp, which means I'll lose my email address I've had forever. I know, I know, I should've been using hotmail, gmail, etc. instead of one tied to my isp!

I'm thinking I may like to just get a domain, no real pressing reason as it would just be for family use but I think it would just be fun to have a more personalized email address.

Anyway, the number of domain registration companies is dizzying and trying to do research on them it seems most have problems with customer service -> especially if you are unhappy with them and try to move your domain to another registration company.

Would anyone care to recommend a company they've had good luck with?

I would like to have 5 to 10 email capability with it.

I've used 1&1 for a few years now. They have been really great, for me anyways.

1&1 and GoDaddy are the only two I even consider using really.

I've always used godaddy -- you can usually find some coupon codes by googling.

Recently though, I heard about a domain registrar that does free private registration. I can't remember which one, but come summer, I may be moving to them.

Google Apps is fairly cool. So no ideas on who to get your domain through (have heard godaddy is good for you US folks), and then google apps standard...up to 50 user accounts with 7 gb storage each all for free. Works out well. Uptime isn't 100% but it's just personal email so personally I don't see the need for 99.9999% uptime....

I use godaddy for the domain; dreamhost for hosting (and I serve almost 2TB a month with one of my sites. BUT: I use google apps so my @oztheory.com addresses (and my other sites) all use the gmail interface which is awesome.

Might take a look at doteasy.com.

I've been using them for over 10 years, and everything has been working great. They have a lot of free add ons, and you can pay a little more and get whatever you need.
