It seems like I have had issues with recording programs on occasion. It is my hardware's fault, not GBPVR's. I have not been able to figure out the source, but I suspect it is reception related.

I was hoping there could be more ways GBPVR tries to record a program when it fails for whatever reason. It could be as simple as a log message that says "program not recording" so I could be searching for the string to take some action. It could be as complex as GBPVR trying a different tuner or initiating a restart. It could even be something in the config file that says:

<ProgramnotRecording>1</ProgramnotRecording>

where 0=do nothing (default behavior), 1=reboot, 2=retry with next tuner in config, 3=popup message, etc.

I am sure everyone will say "fix your HW" and I am working on it, but it would also be nice if the recording behavior were more able to handle issues.

I wont say "fix your hardware", because these things are computers and sometimes they just go wrong. Every now and again, one of my DVB-S cards will stop working for no apparent reason, requiring a reboot. This only happens every few weeks, but not much of this stuff is completely bullet proof. Bad hardware, bad drivers, memory leak? - who knows?

Therefore, some of the options you suggest make perfect sense to me. Even if a reboot was needed, at least you'd still get the bulk of the show - much better than nothing. And something as simple as the app trying another tuner might just get you through.

As you say, this is not due to GBPVR problems, but GBPVR taking corrective action would be awesome. A big ask, but something to hope for one day.
