Hi

I'm about to get my own PVR set up going. I like the look of the email reader/composer plugins that people have been talking about. What I'd like to know is:
Is it possible to write a plugin that pops up an alert when you receive an email (such as MSN Messenger does when your buddy logs in), and perhaps scrolls the message as a ticker tape at the bottom of the screen? All this while you're watching live TV or a recording?

Also, is it possible to train GBPVR to be used with any remote control? As I would ideally like to use a UK Sky Plus remote control... these have flip-open keyboards which could be used to type a response to an email! Am I asking for too much here, or is this all theoretically possible?

Thanks

To be honest, no not really. I dont currently provide a good way to provide notifications while watching video.

You could probably use a third party solution like Girder that provides this functionality.

OK... Is it possible to achieve this externally to GBPVR; i.e. can you write a stand-alone application which generates graphics to overlay on to the video using a filter graph?

You cant overlay on the video in GB-PVR, but there is nothing to stop you putting a window (of any shape/color/look) in front of GB-PVR while it is playing video or showing the menus or whatever.
