I just wanted to let you know that I also have no problem with comskip or rename recordings. They are both working great and always have for me.

My comskip.ini is exactly the same as Pioneer. However, I run comskip in the play nice mode.

I transferred GBPVR and my two PVR-250's to a new machine with 2003 server a couple of days ago and for some reason, PriorityRecordings started not liking my PriorityRecording.xml file, saying it couldn't find the GBPVR element. It was certainly there and loaded up in IE and XML Notepad fine. I ended up copying the first 2 lines from the sample in and it works. So, it was only recording stuff that was set up before the transfer, which ended Sunday night, so I missed 24! Its OK though, I'm getting a high def copy of it transferred to my server, only 22 hours left!

As for ComSkip, I haven't started using it yet. Back when I was using SageTV, I changed the DetectMethod setting from 255 to 1 as it was getting a bunch of extra and missed commercials. I noticed that this greatly decreased the processing time and worked like 98% of the time.

Tipstir, is the junk on the end of your files the regular junk that GBPVR puts on them originally? If so, maybe RenameRecordings isn't seeing the files in the database. I've noticed some items in my database with a status of 3 in my database and I'm only picking up items with a status of 2 (ScheduledRecording.STATUS_COMPLETED). The status 3 items don't get renamed. I'm not sure why they have a status of 3, but that means (ScheduledRecording.STATUS_COMPLETED_WITH_ERROR) which looks like there is an issue with the recording.

BTW, Tipstir, your X Media MVP skin rocks! Cool

ZaDDaz, I have another issue. I can work around it with a batch file, so no biggie. But I have just added the following line to my comskip.ini file

outputvideoredo=1

I am going to try using videoredo to chop out the commercials instead of just skipping them.

The problem is comskip outputs a .VPrj file for videoredo to use. In the file it has a line with the path and filename of the source .mpg. But since the .mpg now has a new name, it won't work. I just manually edited the .VPrj file to try it and it worked.

If you have a burning desire to see what I mean, you can just add that line to the end of your comskip file. It will then also create the .VPrj file.

If not, no biggie, batch file time.

I guess if you get a comskip utility that runs comskip on all files at a later time, it won't be an issue since the files are already the correct name then.

Yep, I know what you're talking about. I'll work on the ComSkip utility before adding in the rename file format stuff. Then there won't be issues between rename and comskip.

Quote:Also gone back to your new RenameRecordings see how that goes which it didn't change the name. On Revelations hmm?
This is because Revelations is a miniseries that doesn't have episode names. I'll take a look at the new skin. If it supports Video Archive, that will be awesome!

I have a question about the RenameRecording(s) does it rename all files in a folder regardless of extension? The reason I'm asking is the folder.jpg file in each folder for the poster, is being renamed to showname.jpg. and I'm getting some interesting posters.

I believe this is from the video archive plugin. I use that plugin to view shows that are no longer in the database, and with the renamerecordings addon, it will list shows by the episode name!

It renames all files with the same base name as the original file name before the rename operation. So if these files existed before the rename:

Stargate SG-1_20050505_0800_0900.mpg
Stargate SG-1_20050505_0800_0900.txt
Stargate SG-1_20050505_0800_0900.VPrj
Stargate SG-1_20050505_0800_0900.jpg
Stargate SG-1_20050505_0800_0900.abc
Stargate SG-1_20050505_0800_0900.xxx

They would all be renamed keeping their individual extensions:

Into the Fire.mpg
Into the Fire.txt
Into the Fire.VPrj
Into the Fire.jpg
Into the Fire.abc
Into the Fire.xxx

It shouldn't be renaming folder.jpg on you. I use the Video Archive plugin too as it seems to be the best view of what you have recorded and haven't seen that problem. I tried getting My Videos working once, but it kept causing GBPVR to crash. Do you use that as well? If so, maybe it is creating these files.

That is what I thought, but I can't explain this. SOme of my folders have a folder.jpg, some have one for every episode name, and some have a folder.jpg, and the showname ones. It seems by the time, they are being created when the files remaned, or comskip is complete..

I don't have MyVideos, but I do have XRECORD. I don't use it though, I only use fastfind. I don't use any skins either. I am more concerned about function over form. But I do like the way some look.

Is the .jpg file a real JPEG? What does it look like? It looks to me that the file is probably created as a part of ComSkip, possibly for logo detection??? Easy way to check would be to comment out RenameRecordings.exe in your PostProcessing.bat file and see if you end up with the files still. Since it processes all files, its OK to have it out for a little while.

It is definitely a jpeg. It is the same resolution as the folder.jpg. They can be quite entertaining. Whatever is causing it is grabbing a poster of whatever matches the episode name. The blackjack man is an episode of Breaking Vegas about a card counter in blackjack. The jpeg is of a movie called "Blackjack" with Dolf Lungren! I suspect it is xrecord, but I really haven't looked. Maybe I will turn off rename and run it manually. I can just double click on it and it will scan the database, correct?

Imagine what some random images would look like based on some show's episode name.

If the lookup is happening automatically it is probably the video archive plug-in. In the next version (avaiable as a prerelease now) I no longer do poster lookups for files that are in the GBPVR recordings directory, to avoid problems like this. The plug-in will still automatically diwnload a folder.jpg file when the folder is created if it can find one.
