I agree completely with this.

I just switched from analog service to Verizon FIOS for cable service (I use GBPVR to record local broadcast channels via Verizon's Clear QAM and Verizon's Media DVR to record all the cable channels) and after two hours of dealing with its interface I am now planning on the best way to have GBPVR be my only interface for viewing and recording all channels.

I always liked GBPVR for its simplicity to use but never appreciated it as much as now that I have to deal with Verizon's interface too. Not only is Verizon's interface confusing but the minute I found that I couldn't use pre and post padding when setting up recordings and couldn't set up so channels I don't subscribe to or have any interest in can not be hidden, I knew I had to find a way to go back to GBPVR.

The list of issues with using Verizon that don't even come up with using GBPVR grows regularly. I used to wonder why there were so many people that used GBPVR for watching live shows rather than just for its recording services but now my goal is to join that group of users as well. One of the side benefits is that I will be able to get rid of set top boxes and their monthly cost for each television set.

Thanks for the heads up sub, always a wise decision, I'm doing a major update on our EPOS software, hence my hols have been postponed until this version has settled in. As for GBPVR, it is the best PVR software out there, I've tried them all, and have always found and issue and returned back to GBPVR. Must try and get into C# or .NET programming so that I can try and do some plug-ins. But just don't seem to have the time.

Look forward to the new release.

I have a feeling that with so many changes it'll be at least a week or so before i do the upgrade when it comes anyways..

it's like being a week before christmas and you know someone spent a lot of money on your present, but you don't have any idea what it is..Big Grin
you're really excited, but not sure what about...Wink

I think you did do a release just before going away a couple of releases ago. The forums quickly filled with whining for fixes, and that was just me Wink

While I'd love to have the new version now, I can certainly understand your decision. If you have down-time on your trip, it might be nice to be able to spend some of it relaxing instead of fielding hundreds of "save me sub, you're the only one who can!" posts in the forum.

Thanks for the update.

That's great news, can't wait! I like the "kid at Christmas" analogy. Smile

I wish you safe travels, hopefully you can get some R&R in on your trip!

Right folks, that gives us all a couple of weeks to put a few pennies away so that we can make a contribution for the cause. I try to make a donation with every new version and I encourage you all to do the same. I'm sure Sub will never get rich out of this, but at least we can show our appreciation for all his hard work. And who knows - after paying for web hosting and stuff, maybe he can shout himself a beer on us!

Thanks Sub. I have owned a BB Storm since Nov of 2009, so I appreciate the decision to wait on stable software. Smile
I donated to GBPVR for the first time today. Maybe not as much as I should have, and I am ashamed to admit how long it has taken me to do so. But I did it. I encourage others who dont contribute with tech support to do the same.
The paypal link is on the wiki page. At upgrade is a good time to show apprecation.
Thanks sub
