I just installed npvr 1.5.28 and found some issues with the QAM channel mapping. The scan did not assign channel names to the unencrypted channels, but it did to the encrypted channels. See picture below.

This makes mapping those channels to EPG information in *.xml files a little challenging. Wink See second picture below.

Thats a new one on me. I dont really have any suggestions short of deleting those channels and try rescanning.

This was already the second try. Wink I needed a screen-shot, so I left npvr, started it again, deleted all channels and tried again. This is what you see in the pictures. I can try a third attempt ...

The only thing that I can think of that would cause this is that they are sending the "Name" field in the PSIP data but the value is blank. To map the channels to xmltv data, you can watch the channel in Live TV (or from the TV Guide) and right click the screen. You will see an option to map EPG data to the channel that you are watching.

Yeah, that's what I'm wondering too.

vmq, if you do a scan and post your npvr.log, I'll check.

You can rename the channels, so its not a big deal, but is a bit of pain in the butt.

Sure, I'll post the log. Small problem though, where is it? ... Ah,
Code:
c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\NPVR\
. That's new.

Logs are attached.

Yeah, it looks like your broadcaster is transmitting empty names. You could see if the attached patch helps. It should at least give you some "unknown" type name.

In case you're curious, the broadcaster's set top boxes dont use these names in the stream. Instead, they use an out of band frequency for carrying channel names, channel numbers, epg info etc. Tuner cards cant tune into this data service.

Thanks, works like a charm now.

Well, a minor issue though, after the scan I go to "Channels", double click on each QAM channel, chose XMLTV and pick the right channel (that's easy now that I have the channel frequency in the name) from the mapping field to get the EPG info.

Now, if npvr could just use the information of the "mapping field" and put it in the channel name field (overriding the "Unknown xx.y"), that would be fabulous Smile

Anyway, thanks for the quick fix to make it work!
