I can use Videos to watch a recording on the client, but the same recording is unwatchable using Recordings. It has HUGE stutters. Live TV is also working, but unwatchable. This is for both analog and QAM tuners.

Have you tried to increase <PrePlayDelay>500</PrePlayDelay> in playback section of config.xml?

Are you on a wired or wireless network?

Is it better or worse on HD vs SD channel?

I tried the preplay up to 2500 with no change. The client is wireless. It is on both SD and HD channels and recordings, all seem just as bad. As I noted, from Videos it plays fine, even in HD. I don't really need a client at the moment, but was doing this just for testing so you will get more input. I will try on a wired PC later when I get a chance.

Are you able to temporarily plug it in as wired instead of wireless to see if it performs better?

GB-PVR always sucked at client/server over wireless, and this might be a case of the same.

I will give it a try. Much easier than setting up a new client!

Well wired worked pretty well. Good on SD with a little stutter here and there on HD. I might be able to optimize this with decoders. My laptop I am testing on has pretty cheap graphics so that might be the limit. Does the preplay delay listed under Recordings in config effect this? It seems like it helped some but I am not sure.

Ok, good to hear wired worked better.

No the delay setting wont really help this. I could add some setting for a buffer size that might help.

If you're using realtek onboard nics (like the M3A78-EM) then i would recommend to disable the "green ethernet feature" within the lan adapters setting. This one can make stutters too.

Which "green ethernet" settings are you talking about?
