LiveTV won't work any more after changing channels, then exiting livetv and attempting to restart it. LiveTV will then start, but then quits after about 5 seconds with the message "The tuner being used for Live TV is no longer available". Only a recording service restart will restore livetv.

In the attached log I first watch live tv on 3 separate channels, exiting and selecting a new channel from the TV guide each time.

Then I start live tv again, but this time I change channels 3 times. Everything is OK to this point.

Finally, I exit live tv, and try to watch 2 different programs from the TV guide. Both times Live TV starts, but then fails after about 5 seconds; the log says it failed to renew the lease.

I haven't tested it as good as johnsonx42, but I just saw the same error here.

Chris

Initially I had the same error, then I realized that I had changed the recording service to run as my login user (trying to solve the epg-autoupdate problem), and when I changed it back to local system account it all worked well again.

I was about to start a thread to log the same problem. I get it whenever I start liveTV now - it plays for bit under 10 seconds then I get that error and it stops. I'm not changing channels and everything is running as the pvr user which is the only user on the box that things have always run from...

@BigMoose: your log is the same as mine - the first attempt to renew the lease on the tuner fails. If you restart your recording service you should be able to watch livetv again as long as you don't change channels. one channel change while in livetv, even accidental, is enough to kill it for good.

programming wise I'll bet this is a very simple bug; it takes more time for us to trace the exact symptoms than it will for sub to fix it.

also, a side note to all of this, LiveTV doesn't clean up it's recording files:
Code:
F:\>dir
Volume in drive F is Videos
Volume Serial Number is 5499-CDD7

Directory of F:\

Do these steps reproduce it for you each time? I tried here with these steps but I'm not seeing the problem you describe.

yes, every time. if I change channels even once, then exit live tv, it won't work again until I restart the recording service.

Hello

Yes same problem here. I was already going to blame my Terratec Cinergy card which I think is a crappy piece of... but maybe I let it live a little longer.
