morser Wrote:Thanks Sub,

I'm available for beta testing on that front should any changes occur. With many PVRs from Cable/Sat providers offering watch in any room on almost any device, this would fit in nicely in the product.

i.e - buying one low end cable/sat receiver, hooking it up to the Server and control it from any computer in the house to watch live.

I second that. In our usage of GB-PVR today, the server/client functionality, NMT support and standalone functionality is equally as important. We use GB-PVR in the livingroom as standalone, in the kitchen as client and in the other TV room with NMT.

Sub, needing beta tester on client support? You've got one here. I guess NMT beta testing is covered by Martin and his "crew". (I'll help there too if neccessary).

From what I have read the updates since the original release that have improved PC client performance. You can check johnson2x's sticky or use NMTInstall2 to get these updates.

I must have been lucky since client support was introduced in 1.5 it has worked better then with older versions.

I'm confused a bit because because the NMT support in 1.5.31 is now pretty much completed and the accurate seeking added in this package is a big plus. The only thing there isn't support for is DVD iso playback. What specifically are you looking for improvements in?

Oh, I did not mean to imply there is something missing on the NMT side. I wanted to say that my "use cases" for NPVR include standalone, i.e "server mode", NMT playback and client/server with NPVR client. And I need all three to work. Before that I cannot leave the olde GB-PVR behind really.

So Martin if you say that NMT playback is pretty much done now, that is great! I have been busy elsewhere and haven't kept up with all progress. DVD iso playback is one that is used extensively though so I have hopes for that one soon too. And, I would be happy to be a beta tester for some specific issues that I can help with. Such as iso-8859-1 support etc if there is something lacking there.

Having been using this for a bit now, I'd be tempted to drop the Beta description. To me, It is as stable or better than gbpvr and easier to setup initially - certainly for digital channels.

Many thanks to sub and all other contributors and testers.

What is the status now on client support? Is live TV available? If not, will it be?
As stated above. It is a cruical piece of functionality for me... Really if it isn't there I cannot upgrade yet... WAF will be too bad.

At least i can confirm, that Server / Client functionality for Live TV on normal PCs is working fine now. I think it's even a lot better then with GB-PVR before. Perhaps sub didn't changed something direct to the client / server functionality, but all the other fixes of this release could be raised the experience.

I will fully switch over to nPVR, if the playback of .isos is possible (it's the most important thing on my setups).

Oh sub, well done. Thank you. Smile
You like nPVR? Then please help pay the bills, and keep the project alive!

Thanx ShiningDragon!

Then the situation is better than I thought. I read elsewhere that live TV was broken, but that might have been an earlier release or just confusion on my part.

So, the last piece of the puzzle is the ISO playback then. I have ripped all of my DVDs to HD and playback of ISO on clients are essential. I don't think my 5 year old son would like not being able to view his favourite films...

This is not WAF, its SAF (Son Acceptence Factor) Smile

And as always, a big bow to Sub and Martin for making all this possible!

Hi,

In the device setup I'm able to add TV channels and radio channels which I could give a free order channel number in the channel setting.
In the visual menu I could choose the TV Guide. If I do so I also see all the radio channels. Is it possible to split the visual menu in a TV Guide, with only the TV channels and a Radio Guide with only the Radio channels?

There is also something strange on the device settings and the channel setting. When I open the device settings and click on a type and device setup I’m able to add a channel manually. For example BBC on frequency 2. Or better 2 is pointing to the right frequency in the registry. If I order this channel in the channel settings and after that choose this channel from the TV-guide the proper frequency is not picked up. There is no TV showed to me.

If I import a channel in the device settings and bound it to frequency 2 the correct frequency is picked-up from the registry table if I watch the channel from the TV-guide.

I hope you could do something with it.

No, there is only one guide. Maybe in a future release though.
