Damn, I knew there was something I had missed but for the life of me I couldn't think of the fact you had to edit your startmeup script at the time I was post that reply......at least Martin was on the ball as usual

Thanks for the clearification. Quote:Yes there are problems with NRecord control of NextPVR Even with the latest patches I have to kill NextPVR manuallyOk, a known issue then. I had a failed recording last night when I scheduled a recording from PCH. Shut down the PCH and went down to the living room to later look at the recording. Status window was showing recording was on, the logs indicated nothing other than normal recording had started. But the recording was stuck at 0 bytes. Trying to restart the recording process would have me manually kill the NextPVR.exe process. Then NRecord restarted and recording actually started recording something. This was on an unencrypted channel so, multidec issues was not involved either. Just a theory, but the stuck NextPVR.exe process might have had something to do with the failed recording... I have the logs zipped, but they don't tell much. I can upload them if wanted.

martin,
In order to to some NPVR testing on my NMT I decided to set up mvpmcx2 from scratch (even changing the location of my mvpmc share) using the NMTInstall2. All worked well and I got NPVR up and working. However, for other reasons I decided to revert back to GBPVR. I autostarted the MVP servers on GBPVR instead of NPVR and I got GBPVR to start on my NMT instead. All is working well except that I can not access my media folders (Music, Videos and Pictures) configured in GBPVR. Nothing happens when I select so I do not think its related to: http://forums.gbpvr.com//showthread....777#post391777. They all reside on a WHS set up (\\Server-name\Videos\) and is working from the computer and they were certainly working in my old mvpmcx2 setup. Before I do further testing and attaching logs I wanted to see if you on top of your head can identify if I am missing something, Thanks, \\Agerdin

I expect this is the common NMT/MVP user problem where you need to either run the Recording Service as a named user and not Local System, or you need to run ShareHelper.

Thanks martin,
That must be it. Im away now so I cannot test but I remembered i did some changes on the service side. Are there any advantages by running Sharehelper? \\Agerdin

ShareHelper will allow you to use different userids and/or passwords for your shares. Also stopping the service will log you off the shares if you want to limit access.

Yes guest shares will work but there are so many potential problems (and support questions) with setup, using drive letters and using the hostname instead of the IP address tht I don't support it myself. When attempting to access my Win7 box ( with newly installed nPVR via NMTInstall2.exe) from the M34A/NMT menu (either by Network browser or by shares) I am getting instant BSOD's!
After exiting nPVR and stopping the nPVR RecordingService I was able to connect from the NMT Menu without crashing - restarted nPVR, more instant crashes. Now I have system-restored to a pre-NPVR restore point and system seems stable again. The network consists of: (1) wired WinXP box running GB-PVR, (2) wireless WinXP laptop, (3) the new Win7 box that is crashing, (4) wired eGreat M34A ---- Background (pre nPVR install) that may help you bloodhounds... * the M34A was accessing the WInXPGBPVR box directly through shares as well as via mvpmc. * M34A was also accessing the Win7 box (the internal hard drive and an attached USB 2TB external) and playing content ---- It goes without saying that I have no idea of what might be causing this BSOD's - since it seems to be the combination of NPVR and the NMT I thought I'd begin here - I hope that someone here can suggest some plan of action for diagnosing this problem besides my usual trial and error, uninstall/reinstall fumbling. Thanks,
