I'm trying to map clearQAM channels, but my cable provider doesn't give any channel names, so I have to sit and try to figure out every single channel. Sometimes I have multiple channels playing the same thing. I know one is their HD channel and one is their SD channel, but I am not sure what the others are when there are more than 2. In GBPVR we had a preview screen that showed a small preview of the channel, and all info on the video too which made it much easier to map channels. How can I see the video information in NPVR so I can determine what these channels are?
NPVR v1.5.33

Windows 7 Enterprise (32-bit)
AMD Athlon II X4 640, 3.00GHz, 3.25GB RAM

2 x Hauppauge HVR-2250
2 x Motorola DCH-3200 STB

You can enable all the channels, then start live tv, watching each channel for a while to determine which channel they are, tne right click and select the map channel option.

I was wondering how I can view channel info, like resolution, or the audio encoding, etc.

Unfortunately there isnt anything that shows this info at this stage. It'll most likely be added in a future build though.

I'm having a similar problem. I miss the preview screen. But I am having a slightly different problem. When I used GBPVR with my HVR-2250 and did the QAM scan. I got lots of channel info. Making it very very easy to know the mapping. When I scan with NPVR, I get none. Lots of channels that are bogus. Its a lot harder then it was with GBPVR. Am I missing something? I'm not even sure I got any channels the way it came up. I did a scan on Default Cable Frequencies using a Hauppauge WinTV-7164 BDA ATSC/QAM Tuner. All the channels come up Unknown. I tried all the other options that didn't seam right to me either like HRC and All contries.

I live in the USA.

I also have a AverMedia tunner connected to a Antenna. This scan gave me all the relevant info.

Another question. Can I still specify my mux?

My cable system moves the clear QAM around from time to time, so I start with the SiliconDust listings at http://www.silicondust.com/support/channels/ and compare to the scan to track them down.

I wouldnt expect GBPVR vs NPVR to return anything different regarding channel names. Channel names are often not present in QAM streams, but if the names are present then both GBPVR and NPVR will show them. If you can do a GBPVR scan and post the config.exe.log/config.exe-native.log, and a NPVR scan and post the npvr.log, I'll have a look to see why they'd be different.

I missed it to so I added a QAM scan and preview capability in Web Radio. It won't save your changes but it will identify the channel and the program id you need and they should match the Channel info from the silicon dust site.

Another thing that is confusing about the scan, is that previously mapped channels aren't shown again in the scan only new channels. Perhaps that is the info you are expecting?

Here are the logs from both scans. I cut off the 1.47 scan as it got to the really high channel numbers, I know from experience there is nothing there. L

Looking again at the npvr scan result I feel like everything came up encrypted. As I mentioned before everything has been working great for my in 1.4.7 leaving me confused if I should stick with that version....

Thanks for looking into this.
