UltraXMLTV - New Beta

New version of UltraXMLTV Enhancer version 2.1.xxxx.xxxx

The new version uses a filename of UltraXMLTV_Enhancer2_1.exe. The previous stable 2.0 version is included in this zip file...

This is a drop in replacement designed to continue using your current previous settings. Please copy all files from the zip and overwrite.

-Fixed the 2 GB limit for tracking byte usage
-Does NOT auto-download Master list (see note below)
-Keeps a separate list of shows that YOU have but are not on the Master list. Ultra auto uploads this much smaller list now
-Checks for online/offline status of EPGtools.com and theTVdb.com ONCE per session. If either fail Ultra carries on the best it can do without new updated information (see below)
-the Master SeriesID list (that is downloaded) was updated with shows that many of you had shared over the last year and a half

-Has an online update feature. Beta testers can be sure they have the latest program exe. Previous versions are backed up so you can always restore if necessary...

-Added ability to discern between Beta or Stable versions of the application. It can upgrade itself. (Manually)

Tested on three different systems for three days now...all looks good.

Make sure your production machine has its UpdateEPG.bat pointing to the stable release version... UltraXMLTV_Enhancer.exe

After copying the files over, run Ultra.

There is a new tab 'Admin' (if you don't have it, you will need to become a 'beta tester' (see below) ... Click the Upgrade Beta Button... If there is a new version available, allow the upgrade. Ultra will auto restart.

Next, on the Main tab, click Download Master Series ID button.

Set up for a regular Enhance. Click Go...

If you'd like, click on the 'main' tab... you'll see if either epgtools or thetvdb are offline.. You'll see Ultra skip over those files (see below)

After well over a year and a half away from development of Ultra, I decided to look at some things that have been bothering me ( and a few of you)

Probably the biggest thing I looked at was the fact that I was NOT attentive to updating the online master file.... all of your uploded series files were accumulating into my hidden net folder on epgtools.com. When I finally looked there was about 500 MB of text files...

And I got to thinking about how each night Ultra downloaded a large text file, processed it and then uploaded it again... many times, the very same file... so I disabled automatic download of the master file... if you're a new user, it will autodownload once, but now it's left up to me announcing that there's a new master file for people to manually download.

Yeah, I could have made Ultra check the file date of the master file, and decide whether or not to download it. I couldn't easily find code that would do that... so I skipped over that part and made it manual... Considering how often I've updated over the last couple of years, that probably wouldn't be a problem... but I'll be looking at adding that.... automatic is GOOD!

Then I made ultra use two lists, rather than the original one: the downloaded master list, and a local list that is a collection of the shows that YOUR ultra collects... now it's the local list that is uploaded, which is in many cases much smaller.

I also wrote code that when I do import your local list into the master, Ultra will remove those entries... from your local on the next pass, to keep the local list as small as possible.

Last night when I was running a bunch of tests... everything was just fine... but today theTVDB.com was actually offline... So I was faced with the same trouble that brought on a major overhaul a year ago... and I realized that it was really causing troubles...

So I fixed the web check, so that it tries only once, and much simpler at that... and then if a site is unavailable... it doesn't even try anymore... That means that if 'Smallville' is scheduled for tomorrow, and Ultra wans a press episode list in anticipation of tonights enhancement, and it can't get one, it still tries it's best with the existing file grabbed probably from last week.

If there's a brand new show that Ultra can't get any information on, it skips over that and tries everytime it runs (only once though)

I tweaked up a couple more things... but really it's meant to be a drop in replacement... The new Master file should work fine for those who aren't upgrading yet, but it all works much better together with the new program file...

I also have a new Windows 7 64-bit system that I run Ultra on. Aside from the damn UAC everything is working fine...

Good luck. I will be here answering questions and fixing bugs, if there are any :-) I won't be disappearing until I know that it's working for you all...

quick question, how do i get star ratings inside the description?
i thought i had it set right but now i get .([TAG]*) inside every show instead of the star rating on only movies..

Apparently, you can't ping theTVDB.com... and it's by design :-(

So here's the latest version that will check correctly for both web sites...

Sorry... I promise that everything else is working well... though I'm sure SOMEONE will find a bug here or there....

hmmm... first, I didn't go anywhere that code... so It's probably something from before that I can look at to streamline the setup process...

But I seem to think that if you simply set 'zehd's picks' and then work from that template it should be fine... the new show indicator works fine by zehd's picks default... please tell me if it isn't...

i would do the zehd's picks but don't want to mess up my other customizations..

actually what i'm seeing is no modifiers are making it...for instance, the * doesn't show up, only "3/4" instead of "3/4*" and when i tried adding a 's' it didn't change..."3/4*s"
the interface shows the * in sample data but not the processed xml...

oh and it only works in [star rating] section...like it's hard coded to that section and display mask...no others work.

Would you mind zipping and attaching all the underscore files? (except the seriesid.txt, I guess)... I'll plunk your settings into my machine and see what's coming up
