UltraXMLTV - New Beta

I hate to do it....but I got an error running the latest beta version (2.1.3944.40625).

I ran the update process and everything went fine. I then got brave and decided check "Try No Data Again" from the admin tab and re ran the process. It seems to run through the process but fails when it is writing out lists (?).

I have included screenshot of the error window and the main application and the text from the error window.

Bad boy.. getting brave and all... LOL. I have have added security to prevent that on the latest version

That feature ignores an entry that is No Data, and tries one more time from theTVDB.com whether previous scans had missed something. I put that there to help get through 8600 records without handing checking everything... Last night I ran it again, and found nothing more... at least not in this automated way...

On a previous post, I suggested that if any of you have an inkling to find a seriesid manually from theTVDB.com, you could pass that to me, and I'll edit the master from here... and upload the change...

I have uploaded to the first post of this thread a new zip file. This is in case the 'online update' features won't work for you... though it should be fine after a manual copy/overwrite

Basically, Ultra is now aware of whether it is in beta mode or in stable release mode... This is simply by file name:

UltraXMLTV_Enhancer2_1.exe << beta
UltraXMLTV_Enhancer.exe << stable release

Now... although I'm testing the Stable release feature... it's not official... I'm hoping that you all can check that it all works well..

Here's a breakdown so you Beta testers can keep them straight.

First, only update The stable release with the main Upgrade button from TS tab
And of course, only upgrade the Beta from the admin tab...

I am assuming that you have your UpdateEPG.bat file pointing to the Stable release filename UltraXMLTV_Enhancer.exe
This is so that we can be sure that your production machine is runnning properly, night after night

Use the beta program to manually enhance a xmltv file and check for changes and new features etc...

Tom, I think you are still getting your xmltv file, and enhancing at work, then taking home the enhanced file for your home pvr... I'd like you to use the Stable version when you do your regular enhance. Only use the Beta to try new stuff out.

I promise that I won't be updating the 'stable' version very often. ;-)

My next phase of working on Ultra is to refine the new user experience... minimize install files, test app from different locations, security (damn UAC) etc..

I'll be working on my defaults (Zehd's Picks) and that's when I will deal with pbs's request...

PS... I will have uploaded two newer versions of both stable and beta, so that you guys can test the online upgrade process from the programs...

quick question, how do i get star ratings inside the description?
i thought i had it set right but now i get .([TAG]*) inside every show instead of the star rating on only movies..

Before I get into this... I'm not familar with star ratings for TV series... have I just not noticed them?

just the movies have star ratings, but i was getting an error where the text appeared on all shows..[just the mask text as-is]
all is better now, it displays the "3*" but it seems to be hardwired to that format and location..

I've found the problem... I figure there's something in your local seriesid list that it didn't like, so I created a couple of situations, and added handling. It will also report anyother string issues and then skip over and continue...

I would love some help testing what happens when a new user is trying Ultra. Most of us have it set up already, so we don't need to go through the registration often, if ever. I'd like some brave soul to kill their registration and see how it happens...

This is how I see you doing it:

1. Startup the Beta software... UltraXMLTV_Enhancer2_1.exe and then upgrade it online (Upgrade beta from the Admin tab)

2. You will see a new button on the admin tab, that say 'kill reg'.. it simply removes a registry entry that tells Ultra you have registered... it won't change the rest of your settings. Close the beta.

3. Download the Ultra2.zip from the wiki... http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Utility/UltraXMLTV

4. copy/overwrite the contents of the zip to your epg folder

5. Run UltraXMLTV_Enhancer.exe (the stable release file). You will be presented with a registration form. Please fill it out... While you're at it... use real info

This is what you should see...

1. After you press 'Register' You'll see a 'thank you, please wait' text... and in the status bar of the main form hiding in the background, you'll see 'checking net connection...'

2. The reg, uploads your registration to the server

3. then it downloads a fresh copy of ZUpdater from the server, and forces an upgrade of the Main program file. Ultra will disappear, ZUpdater will download the new version and then start Ultra again...

You will be up and runnning...

I'm crossing my fingers this will all happen smoothly... Thanks for the testing!!!

I followed you direction but I got an error after registering. It appeared to happening during checking net connection. The error is my 403 forbidden access (I forget the exact wording). And I'm not able to continue. In the previous Public release version I got the error at the end of the process and to get around the error I had to unselect automatic upload of the series file. But now I get it at the beginning of the process.

Also, in the screenshot of the main screen notice that there is a field label in the upper right appearing which probably shouldn't be showing.

Let me know when you want more testing done.

I don't know why you are getting forbidden access... You do have the ability to upload files from where you are? This is absolutely required... might be firewall, UAC...

Anyway.. I'm running off to a wireless hot spot and try this from a different IP and see if I can still do it
