The risk that someone else could delete a folder within the network can be minimized. Just work with different user accounts and makes usage of the ntfs security features for folders. Only my user account has the permission to change / delete the media folders. All other accounts could try this, but they won't have success. ;D

Yep, that pretty much sums it up for me.

Sub, you just need to write the 'mind reading module' for NPVR.
User: "Delete these files in this folder"
NPVR: "Ok, I'll delete the files you really mean, and magically leave the rest"

you could REALLY make a fortune with that algorithm. I'd certainly license it from you!

Yes, that is exactly what I'll end up doing. There is a lot of times this same sort of "cant please everyone" type problem pops up though, when I dont want to waste space in the settings screen with another option to confuse users. I prefer to keep things simple.

This is probably one of those things that could be left in config.xml only - Delete enabled by default - set to false in config for those who like to be in control

Personally I love options.. the more I have, the happier I am. It always seems funny to me to see people arguing about features when all it takes is a check box and the argument is over.

When I brought this issue up, I guess I was just the first one here with the idea that NPVR was more of a media center than a file management application. My logic cant help but wonder why there wouldn't be a create folder button and copy/move functions too...
