Can a few MVP users with the new v0.92.8 release please try playing a non-mp3 audio file and let me know how you get on. A WMA file would be ideal.

I've had one user report problems. I've looked into it but I dont have an answer at this stage. I want to know if it's a wide spread problem.

just a quick test I did have some trouble but havent had a chance to get into it much. first trouble was when browsing music didnt see wma's this wasnt a big deal just had to put the file association in mymusic pluggin. Music library browsed fine without any change and music doesnt see them at all and has no where to put in an association or at least in the pluggin section.
second trouble is when you go to play a file it looks like its going to work about a second or two later mvp crashes goes back to connecting servers and then gbpvr appears again. These wma's im trying have a very hi bit rate not sure if it has anything to do with it I dont have much time to check it out tonite but tomorrow and this weekend ill spend some time checking things.

I restored a bunch of my music files to test since I converted them all to MP3 a week or so ago....

I have found:

No problems with WMA 8 files.

No problems with WMA 9 files.

Napster downloads fail....I am assuming due to the DRM.

OK, mixed bag so far, but I'm glad to see it's at least working for some users.

Thanks for trying it out guys!

If anyone else is keen to try it out, I'm still keen for more feedback on this.

Tried a few times with a WMA file on the MVP (it was originally ripped using WMP10 at 192kbps if that is important). I get a few seconds of hiss (start of playback) then the square stop button flashes on the TV screen and that's it. If I look at the transcoded MP3, it is 400KB+ in size and always seems to be 1min 1sec / 1min 2sec in length and plays back fine (for that time) in WMP10.

Logfile ends as...

VERBOSE About to start graph
VERBOSE mp3 transcode processing started

Running Trans2MP3 at the command prompt produces a full MP3 file that plays back fine with WMP10.

Ok....ripped with Windows Media Player 10:

192 bit constant - Ok
VB 132-256k - Ok

Found old WMA 8 based recordings - Ok

Could issues be related to the gbpvr service not running under a local account? I have mine set as a local account since it addressed some MVP Video Playback issues. I also have FFDSHOW loaded and set to run on MVP.

Good point. Those having problems may be because of this.

Been there done that. My ffdshow works, but not the trans2mp3
It is not a big issue for me, but cannot understand why it wont work.
