@ IanJ

Exactly the audio glitching I'm getting.

IanJ Wrote:I also notice a bug whereby if you press the up/down direction buttons it'll sometimes come up miles away from the channel you are on. I'd expect it to start off showing the channel I was watching before being able to up/down away from it. You can see this in the video also..........
I'm on channel 6 and when I press the up (or down) button channel 14 appears. I change to 13 and watch it for a few secs......then back to channel 6......where the glitching has gone.

I reported this exact channel problem before in this thread: http://forums.gbpvr.com//showthread.php?...ing-arrows

You should probably mention it there to keep it alive, and since it has nothing to do with the glitching. This problem seems to come and go for me, it's wierd. I've been trying to figure it out for a while now, and still can't seem to get a pattern out of it. Did you happen to remove or add any channels right before it started that? (You should probably answer this question in the other thread...)

I'v done a lot of playing around with different decoders and drivers for my Realtech audio. Some decoders (like Dscaler) work fine without glitching on some MPEG1-audio channels, on other channels (also with MPEG1) it gives no sound at all. So that makes me wonder, is there different sub-formats under MPEG1 definition? Other decoders (like Microsoft DTV-DVD) works without glitching but then again audio and video is not in sync. I'v never experienced glitching in playback, only live-tv, but out-of-sync is a problem on playback with some decoders and MPEG1 sound.

I'v setteled with Cyberlink Audio Decoder (the version from TerraTec), that's the one with fewest problems.

Audio glitching in 1.5.33 is a big problem for me. After I got the heads-up from SUB to disable unused audio codecs, audio was perfect for me in 1.5.31, but nothing I can do solves it in 1.5.33. The other new problem that 1.5.33 introduced is that if I pause live TV, when I then un-pause, audio is constantly going out of sync with video. Sometimes rewinding momentarily will fix this for a minute or two, but it was always go out of sync again. This has made 1.5.33 pretty much unusable here. So, I guess the question is - what changed between .31 & .33 to break this?

Do you have this problem with all kind of audio or is it limited to MPEG?

I get the same issue, but only with channels that are encoded. It is the same MPEG audio on them all, but only the FTW channels work with perfect sync. The encoded ones start with sync, but then starts to drift up to several seconds in a few minutes. The multidec decoding seems flawless to me so I cannot see what is the problem.

And this is also only on live TV. If I record the show and look at it later, there is no sync problems. Strange indeed.
And, to complicate this further. The problem is erradic. Sometimes it it in syncc...

Could be a decoder combination issue possibly? I use Cyberlink 10 video decoders and the MPEG Audio decoder.

Not sure if this helps or not....

I had the same problem but it got better since I tricked npvr to use AC3Filter for MPEG audio. Only problem now is that if I push Pause/Resume it drops out of sync, with sound coming before picture. I found that it does also have an impact which audio rendrer I select (that's probably dependent of what audio HW you have).

I could not get AC3Filter to show up. How did you manage that?

Edit config.xml so that DecoderMPEG1Layer2 looks like:

<DecoderMPEG1Layer2>AC3Filter</DecoderMPEG1Layer2>

In order to reduce the number of posts on what is the same problem. I will continue on from this post
http://forums.gbpvr.com//showthread.php?...ut-of-sync

Sub in this post you said
Quote:could give you a patch, which adds a setting in config.xml to force it to use the audio renderer the way it did prior to .33, which at least gives you way to work around it until we find the cause?
Is this still a posibility? - I could then re-install .33 (I had to go back to .31 for health reasons) and continue testing knowing I could easily revert to the preveous rendering system.

Since reverting to .31 I have managed to get the Arcsoft Video Decoder from my TMT3 install to be usable as a directshow filter and it works very well in NPVR (Instructions on request) I am hoping this may cause the problems using ffdshow audio decoder to go away - have tried ATI and Cyberlink 9 codecs with .33 which caused serious video lag.
This is using latest ffdshow tryout to do dolby prologic decoding on MPEG 1 Sereo & converting to 640kb AC3 5.1 to send over SPDIF to the Amp - sounds superb - so loathed to try other audio decoders!

I am hoping to use ffdshow AC3 audio in the not to distant future when DVB-T2 Freeview HD Card or stick finaly come on to the market (6 months of transmitions and still nothing to watch it with!!!)
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh

I've added some logging. Can you reproduce the problem with the attached update, then post the npvr.log?
