Exact definition of "Record Season (All episodes on this channel)"

Does it mean:

Record every show on this channel with...
1) the same title
2) same title AND description
...?

And also, if 2) then does it detect duplicate programmes and only record one of them?
For instance, take TVNZ7's documentary series "World's Best" , where duplicate episodes may be on a number of times a day, or show at different times of the day for multiple days.

Ultimately, I'd like to be able, with one record setting, to record all "World's Best" shows, but never the same one twice, regardless of when it's on. Is this possible?

With our (!@#$%^ useless, crappy, rubbish) listings we get in this country I can never work out if stuff on TVNZ6 or 7 is a repeat or not so how the hell is NextPVR supposed to know if it's a repeat or not?????

By concatenating the Title AND Description as a comparison key, and not scheduling a recording if either it is in the queue already, or has already been recorded (assuming it's still in the database as "recorded")...?
I find that, at least with one of my favourites, "World's Best", the Description is differentiating.

Failing that - and it would be a major project and certainly unfeasible for NPVR I imagine - would be some sort of audio profiling and comparison using a section out of each programme. And if the ads don't screw it up. :\

Most of the ones I look at only have a generic description, or end up getting generic descriptions after a short period of time, so even using Title & Description wouldn't work for a lot of them...............how TVNZ expects anyone to actually watch much off those channels is beyond me, the only way I have found to record the stuff I want it to use the "Weekly this timeslot" option.

have you tried the 'advanced' record feature? it should let you key on title and description to auto-record shows..and use wildcards..

To answer Peter_h's first question, it normally keys on title only..meaning a season record only looks at title when looking for more episodes..
the advanced record feature lets you key on more fields and do some pretty advanced stuff..
