You can read this thread for some background info to this (http://forums.gbpvr.com//showthread.php?...evel-menus)

The plugin itself is now on the wiki: http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...in.SubMenu

"SubMenu" is a plugin to replace the existing main menu, duplicating its functionality and adding the following:

- support for sub menu groups
- the ability to rename any plugin

Eventually, it may even support some of the other ideas knocking around in the wishlist thread (eg a vertical layout, or something with fanart backgrounds).

I'm sure there'll be problems, hence posting it now for early feedback...

a promising start, but for me it causes a rendering problem - the menu shows up ok, but as soon as I move left or right all the menu items simply disappear. the menu will re-appear if I move the mouse or press escape. this happens with both Wave and the default skin. I also tried with my original 10-item main menu, and also tried moving half the items to a sub-menu; in all cases the menu items disappear as soon as I scroll the menu.

A more minor niggle: I'm not a fan of having [Brackets] around the submenu names.

Ok, I'll look into it. Not sure why it would be doing that though, as the rendering code for 5 or more buttons is still sub's original code. What mode are you using? VRM9 or EVR?

Edit: I can confirm this happening now, so I'll get it fixed.

It was really just there for testing, so I'll remove it. There's nothing stopping a user doing it themselves anyway because you have full control of all the names.

working great..Smile hoping a nice gui for submenu building comes along eventually...[like built-in config] but not that important..

a nice little side effect, without the addition to global.xml, you still get a nice usable submenu called "submenu" off the main menu with the plugin's menu item settings..Smile
seems like it's a way to get original main menu plus submenus, and still be able to edit main menu order from config gui..Smile
just disable any in config.xml you wish to only have in submenu..
[disabling normal main-menu item doesn't preclude it from working in submenu plugin]

oh, and an idea for those with less than 5 [or scrollable amount] of main items is to make duplicates, like 'epg, utils, livetv, epg, utils, livetv' to get scrolling going while looking like only 3 items exist..

one wish, could we have button to go back up a menu?
n/m, esc[back] works so i guess it would just add clutter..
[tho could be used for filler for those less than 5 menus]

Great solution! Done.

I guess, but is it really needed? Surely it's quicker to hit escape, right click, back/exit on your remote, etc than to try and find a back button in the menu? (I only use a remote so I might be missing scenarios where this isn't possible).

For better WAF it would be good to have the 'back' button in the menu. Smile
