Dear all,

really good input so far.

If we were looking for a 'high level feature summary' any more suggestions as to how this could be laid out? The more suggestions, the more to work with!

cheers

Sub,

could you give 1 example of ANY software (non-HTPC or HTPC) whatever, that best gives a 'high level feature summary' of its uses/doings?

This combined with previous suggestions may at least give insight into structuring this page?

(This does of course mean if you are liking where we are going with this. Please tell now if no good to curtail work)

Cheers

Sorry, I dont have an example for you. I had a quick look at some of the other HTPC software, but didnt see anything spectacular we should be doing

I'm not that fussy Smile At the end of the day a list of one/two sentence bullet points will probably enough of a starting point, and we can refine further in future (either with more detailed list, or longer more detailed feature descriptions). As long as we cover the main stuff like support for world wide tv standards (DVB-S/T/C, ATSC/QAM, Analog), multi-record, transport stream based recording, quick channel changing, background recording service, wide codec support (H.264, HE-AAC, E-AC3, AC3, MPEG2), etc.

Cheers Sub, think that is now understood. Do for now!

Cool, just revisited this stuff. I'm not a great one for repetition. Personally then I would have thought that most of the licensing comments (apart from personal usage, don't panic anyone, NPVR is still free, unless you would like to donate!) could be shifted into features and made more pretty?

(For anyone not in the know about this I did say send PM!)

For those that have access to these pages on temp server, a simple kind of list is now under features. Should anything be added? Taken away? Before improving the layout/look?

Tried to look but it seems to be down, getting timeout errors. Is the server turned on? Wink

Working now, topics and coverage looks good.

Here's another features page which I really like. Well written, non technical and has the task based approach. So instead of saying "it has a music library screen that can play music files with supported codcs", it says "you can play music with album art, lyrics and visualzastions""

Yes, this does look very clear. I think a non-technical approach is the one needed. (as an aside it is a website I haven't visited in ages, much work been going on there, and on their wiki!)

cheers
