Looking good - your feature list seems to cover the important aspects for me

The media portal page looks much nicer than the others - although I'd be tempted to keep it as one column with bigger images.

@steeb: I'm glad someone else is having dropped connections in this weather although can't see any good reason why???

Thanks elite, all taken on board, also the fact that my ISP keeps dropping the connection, it is after all only snow, how does that effect the exchange???

Guess I would kind of like to know if Sub would potentially be going for the option of having this Wordpress based front end to NPVR (not asking for commitment!) then I could chuck out some more ideas based on comment about the 'features'. Solid ideas but how is the best way to implement this kind of thing? It may even be that 'features' is not necessary, though I think it is good to have for a glance at what NPVR is doing?

cheers

Yes, assuming I can get it installed without too much hassle, I cant see why we shouldnt use it. Infact, I'm quite happy to put it up in it's current work-in-progress status.

I am working on the basis of 2 other Wordpress sites I helped develop that were 1st developed 'offline' and then uploaded. There were some issues but by uploading to an intermediate server we can elimate nearly if not all issues so that when the time came to upload to your server it should be a faultless 15 min thing Big Grin (hmmm no promises, as we all know) If you are happy to do this at this stage there are 2 sides of my thinking.

1) A little more tweaking before showing
2) Just do it

I think we should just do 2) as work-in-progress Big Grin

My suggestion would be to take up elite's offer of temporarily hosting this on his more accessible public server and let everyone have a look instead of me PM'ing everyone?

If that's a go then we can work from that?

cheers

Whatever you prefer is fine with me. Let me know when you've got something you need me to upload to the main gbpvr.com server.

Sub,

nothing to upload to you yet, still working off temporary space, but may be ready to show the world!

Can you check that last link you had (elite's server) pages now utilising blue elements of Slate skin.

If you think OK to show world, I cannot see why not now, there is still much to be done to 'tweak' but as you say work in progress'

cheers

Dear all,

if the following appeared on the main homepage for NPVR how does it sound? Anything missed, too complicated, not complicated enough? As usual all comments taken on Big Grin

cheers

Steeb

NextPVR is a free Personal Video Recorder (PVR) or Media Centre for your PC which runs on Microsoft Windows. Its main function is scheduling TV Recordings and watching Live TV. With NextPVR you can also play back DVD’s and music, videos and photos stored digitally on your PC or other storage devices over your home network.

The application is made even more useful with a wide range of plugins available, providing features like weather, music jukeboxes, and internet radio.

There is support for multiple clients, including thin client devices such as the popcorn hour, all running from a ‘back-end’ server for distributing your media experience across your home network and, if you are away from home, a Web Interface so you can keep control.

Sub is the developer and it is supported by a friendly community via the forums and documentation wiki.
