It is always a good thing to start by sending logs and the output from the NMT Syntax check.

Martin

Thanks for replying Martin,

I had uninstalled nPVR - so wasn't thinking quite straight - then I searched & found johnsonx42's tip & did find the log files.
Also included are 2 Syntax checks, just by luck I also had one from pre-BSOD's
The mvpcmc share.log is also inlcuded.

Are there any other logs/info I can provide?

When you do the syntax check you need to specify the IP of the NMT you are checking but I think you have another problem with the web server, in the syntax check

The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error.

Something about your NPVR setup is incorrect, go back to the Default skin and then upload logs, I think I will need sub's help to debug this further.

EDIT !!!! Put a hold on this!!!
Looks like it may be an intermittent problem caused by the attached (new) Seagate 2Tb USB GoFlex External Drive.

Am planning on replacing it with an internal when I return it as faulty.

========================================================
Thanks for helping Martin,

I had entered the hostname HDEYESHOT when running those checks - I just reran using IP and get the same (except for the line that previously had only "MAC" now reads" "NMT IP Address: 192.168.2.6 MAC" (MAC addr not shown)

After repeated crashes when attempting to access NPVR from the M34A the Win7 no longer restarted and to recover Win7 I finally had to do a rollback to pre-NPVR set point. I will gladly reinstall it - especially if you recommend a method that will suite us well for sorting out this BSOD issue.

Additionally, if you suspect it would be appropriate to reinstall any other of the components in order to have a know baseline before we start down that road -- please don't be shy.

Apologies if my negativity keeps leaking through but NPVR (on both box #1 and now box #2) has been nothing but headaches.

Sincere thanks,

I'm not sure where you are right now, but from the sounds of thing it is not NPVR related as I don't see how NPVR would be causing the problems you are seeing. For your drive maybe check for 4k sector size issues with your motherboard.

Sub made it so NPVR and GBPVR install and coexist pretty well to smooth the transition. Sorry to hear about your problems.

Thanks for adding to this Martin,

I checked based on your suggestion and found that the external drive is not the new4k sector type.
But it is a USB 3.0 (supposedly backward compatible & Mac compatible) drive. My #2 box is USB 2.0 and I suspect that 3.0 vs 3.0 issue is at work for this computer - since I had to try several USB ports before the computer recognized the drive I'm sure enough that's it to return the drive and go to internal instead.

BTW - for the M34A - what are the implications of it (mine) being diskless? Does it affect the installation, setup, or operation of the NMT?

I run all my NMT's diskless so that isn't a real concern, design-wise it still has a disk connection, it just is installed externally. In a recent round of testing the mvpmcx2 beta test time has found that memory usage is slightly different because the NMT uses the drive as linux swap space, but that memory is really used to support all the apps that run on the drive and it doesn't help with NPVR.

Trying again...
starting with NMTInstall2 for nPVR.
nPVR appears to be running okay from the PC.
nPVR starts okay on a wired MVP (finally!).
M34A renders .mpg .wmv, .mpeg, .mkv, .avi okay via the shares on NMT Media Source menu

When selecting the mvpmc share - the NMT gives s regular 'media source' menu. Selecting 1st Icon results in "No content found', selecting the last (file display) icon lists the NPVR.html file, selecting that gives the three lines in the html file. Selecting N-PVR results in "Request cannot be processed". Doing the same for "...via Network Browser" & "...via USB" gives same result.

Running NMT Syntax Check gives...

Right off the bat I can see that cacls is not showing mvpmc is being shared for GUEST access.

mvpmc was being shared for: tom and Everyone (with R/W privs)
I went back in and added Guest (with R/W)
Restarted nPVR, the M345A, and Win 7
Results when attempting to start nPVR through the NMT share are exactly (as far as I can see) the same.
(Edit: the same as reported in previous post)
The share log and Syntax Check are in fact exactly the same.

Any further ideas?

Ooops... what does "cacls" stand for, please?
(Edit: And what is it in the SyntaxCheck & store log that tells you how mvpmc is being shared or not shared? )

Thanks for your seemingly infinite patience,
