Guys,

Not sure if some of you are stuck now trying to get reliable Freeview XML TVguide listings. If so use the following VBS script I have written.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=FCWAMIRZ

You can download and check out. As it is if you run the VBS script it will download all freeview channels except c42 and TV3+1, since they're not on the TVNZ freeview guide as yet.

Comments or suggestions welcome. Will update further in the comming weeks.

I'm not sure if screen scraping is worth it now. I just use EPG Collector now which is super simple to install and extracts the MHEG5 EPG.

Extracting the data straight from the MHEG5 Freeview|HD stream means that the EPG data is correct, won't break in the future, and doesn't even need an internet connection!

Getting the data direct from the broadcast EPG is clearly the best solution. Screen-scrape applications were invaluable before this type of application became available, but the biggest challenge they face is that companies like TVNZ change the format of their guide more frequently than they change their underwear.

I will give that a try but last time I tried I only ever got about 3 days worth of EPG, which isn't enough IMHO.

BTW, the script expects c:\temp to write temp files into, so if you dont have that the script will fail with a write error.
