I'd run the install again since it will tell you the version number when it starts and it won't overwrite the newer patched files. You might want to click on the Details and review for errors when it finishes.

Also that change might only work with the Default skin.

My understanding of the install procedure is to unzip the patch file (link to this zip file is on this forum), and then copy those newer files into the NPVR directory to overwrite any older existing files with the same filename. That is all I did, but if there is an installer file that I can run, then where can I get it? I am using the original blue skin, but have tried the New Blue skin The fonts were too small, so I went back to the Default skin. Don't think there is a way to screw it up by doing that, but who knows?

I think by installer he mean the NPVRSetup.exe.

Do you mean the way to install the latest distribution of NPVR, or can NPVRSetup.exe be used to install the 1.5.36 patch available as a zip file?

no, the 'patch' is simply a zip file of replacement program files (in other words, they're not really patches... sub calls them patches because HE is patching his code... but what we get are simply compiled binaries). there's nothing special about it, and the NPVR installer has no idea what to do with it.

what martin was saying is to re-install the NPVR itself using the original 1.5.36 installer here: http://www.gbpvr.com/NPVRSetup.exe and then just to be sure also copy in the patches again. your setup screen should not say 1.5.33, so obviously something is wrong with your installation somewhere. he also points out (correctly I think) that the timeline seeking by mouse click may only work with the default skin in 1.5.36.

Not quite, since if the patches are installed NPVRSetup will skip them based on date.

yes, but I'm pretty sure if he had the patches installed the version would show as 1.5.36. the "then just to be sure" part was my addition to what you said.

I don't know where the current nPVR Version no. is stored, so I am trying to avoid losing my custom .bat files and configuration data in the process of a total re-install of nPVR. Does NPVRSetup.exe overwrite the configuration and .XML files in the Application Data\NPVR directory as well as the program files and DLL's in the Program Files\NPVR directory?

The installer for npvr is not supposed to overwrite any customized configuration files, but just to be sure, make a backup of them before running the installer. NPRVSetup.exe is the ONLY way to upgrade to a new version, the .zip files distributed (patches) are just small corrections to the latest version and if you apply them to an old version the results can be very unpredictable.

I proceeded with the update by running NPVRSetup.exe (Vers. 1.5.36). The result is that I can no longer use NPVR because the Main (horizontal) Menu is now nothing but a white blank strip and I can't tell where to mouse click. I did backup my Application Data\NPVR directory before the install. By comparison between the two, I found many changes including the Skin\Default\background.jpg and the config.xml file that increased in size from 9KB to 10KB. I also compared the files included in the 1.5.36 Patch zip file with those in the Program Files\NPVR directory after running NPVRSetup.exe. There were two larger and later dated files in the Patch: NShared.dll and Unmanaged.dll. Replacing these two files in Program Files\NPVR directory with the newer ones from the 1.5.36 Patch did not restore operation. I am hoping it is something simple like a missing JPG file. Any suggestions on how and where I can start trouble-shooting and get running again?
