I have a sparkly new Kitchen extension that's just begging for a pc client to run npvr, iTunes and a browser.
At the moment I holding off for AMD fusion products to come to market for the box but I've also been looking at some of the multitouch monitors knocking around and I'm very tempted.
Currently 2 things are putting me off, firstly none of the monitors I've seen have HDMI (only DVI), this is not a deal breaker as it would be on a separate amp so I can live without audio coming out of the crappy built in speakers.
Secondly and more importantly I don't know what level of support nPVR + Win 7 has for touch screen input.....anyone tried it that would like to share their experience?

I have played with both Windows tablet PC's (Old Fujitsu) and an O2 joggler with the PCH linux emulation.

Very sadly, they are both a dead loss with just a touch screen. To find out about what works or not just run a PC/NPVR using just the mouse movement and left mouse button. I persisted, as I had high hopes for the simplicity of use - like you for a kitchen and a garage. I'm also struggling to get a decent touch screen jukebox running, but I haven't tried too hard with that one yet.

I've never used any touch screen with windows....i kind of assumed that you would be able to set up gestures mapped to keystrokes, or areas on the screen in specific apps to act as key presses.....not the case from what you're saying. I'm suprised no one has written an app to get around it.
I wonder how much i would need to bribe sub to implement it properly.

TBH I haven't tried Windows 7 with a touchscreen as the tablets I have are a little memory limited and don't have W7 drivers for the touch bit of the screen.
Just playing with the tablet bits of W7 as supplied (but using a mouse), only seems to give a form of handwriting recognition.
Some kind person did supply a form of cursor pad for gbpvr to aid navigation, but I can't seem to find it at the moment.

Searching the bling car PC forums would probably find something, but I'm not into that.

The touch in w7 is better than on xp single touch only
W7 multitouch
The touch screen I have is only 2 point
Played a while back with pvrx2 it not bad as you can change the gestures in w7
Haven't tried npvr but since I will be upgrading to npvr this week I'll try it out and report back

I'll be interested to hear how you get on. I'll still not be able to get it working as my hardware won't run W7, but it will be worth knowing.

Hmmm...I'm sure I posted a reply last night....anyway...
After looking in the win7 help it does infer that you can add custom gestures, I assume that means you can assign them to key strokes.
I guess for npvr it would be best to use in conjunction with a customised skin that has tap areas, errrr for instance in the weather plugin I think the red yellow green and blue keys move through different screens, the skin could do with having these buttons represented and touch sensitive. I might stop by a friendly pc shop and stick npvr on a machine with touch before I commit. Any feedback fromsustunz would be very handy....I suspect my illusion will be shattered as soon as I ask the same question about iTunes though......

ok
not good
If you were thinnking iphone experience think again (hard to beat iphone when it comes to touch control)

no on screen buttons makes it very hard to control anything
gestures do work but are not that fast, on main screen flick gets you accross one icon ,if you use 2 fingers you can scroll more but thats not ideal
although new to npvr finding very laggy on netbook

itunes what did you mean Elmo?

got anything you want me to try or questions fire away
