Hi,
I'm a Newbee on NPVR and I have a problem here... I searched for any similar posts but didn't find any. I cannot see any encrypted channels, although I have searched for channels with "CI Interface" option enabled. I can watch these channels in WMC, so Hardware should be OK. If I switch to an encrypted channel I get a black screen with no sound and no OSD messages. Free channels are displayed correctly. This software is so cool and so much better and faster than WMC that I would like to change, so please help!

First of all, what brand and model of capturecard do you have? Not all CI-modules are supported by npvr.

I have 2 cards, a Terratec H7 and a Technisat cable star combo HD. OS is Win7, 32bit.

The Terratech CI is not supported by npvr, for Technisat Sub will have to answer. However, you can still be able to watch encrypted channels using these cards if you go for a cardserver/softcam solution (more specific NewCS v1.65 and Amamd v 6.18),

Thanks for your answer, which is much appreciated. I will have a look on the proposed solutions. Thanks again.

Small typoo, should be ACAMD v6.18. In addition you'll also need a Phoenix type smartcardreader (usb or serial port).

Sorry, neither of theose are supported for CI. Basically every manufacturer does CI a different way. I've added CI support for thr Hauppauge, FireDTV and Twinhan cards I have.

As Reddwarf mentioned, you can probably use MDAPI if you have access to a Phoenix smartcard reader.

Thank you guys, you have been very helpful, but I don't think that I can follow anymore. Your proposals are far too difficult for me, sorry. Don't you think you can add any support for terratec or technisat cards in the future? Best regards, tapman

I dont know, maybe.

Terratec wouldnt respond when I asked for technical information on CI interface. I dont have any Technisat cards.

If either of them were to supply a sample device, and technical info on the CI, then I'd probably add support for them.
