Hi,
I just bought a PVR-150 and I'm using GB-PVR, and most everything is working great! Only problem is that on two channels, 7 & 9, the audio is not present in the recording. However, if I choose the 'Watch Live TV' option, I can hear it fine. For example if I pause, and hence it starts using the timeshift recording, then the audio disappears. This always happens (it's not like it's flakey or anything), and I don't think it's a frequency problem because I can hear/see everything fine when watching tv through the GB-PVR 'Watch Live TV' option. Plus, it only happens on two stations for me.

Does anyone have any ideas? Otherwise, I'm having a great time with it, truly a nice piece of software. If I can just get these channels working, I can get WA (wife acceptance) and install everything. Thank you!

Brian

Well I'll post a response to my own question for others that may be having the same problem. It turns out that when I played with the frequencies I *was* able to get audio, and so everything appears to work. So, the moral is, if you have a few channels with no audio, play around with the frequencies (go above and below). Sometimes you have to veer out pretty far, but my recommendation is to go out so far that you see degraded quality, but hear audio, then work your way back to the frequency reported by TuningAssistant until you get a good compromise. In both cases I was able to get audio and video, with no noticeable difference in video quality. Strange though that using TuningAssistant I had to go one past the channel I was viewing to get the frequency for that channel.

I've been having trouble with tuning too. What kind of number is your frequencies? Mine are 8 digit numbers - and they're not working for me.
S-Video out to NTSC TV
NF7-Sv.2 motherboard (SocketA) w/512 mb ram
XP-3000+ CPU - XP Home OS
eVGA fx5200 (video out)
PVR-250 (video in) - latest drivers
Nvidia DVD decoder (trial for now)

The frequencies varied, some were 8 digits, some nine. I think one in particular was 187187500, and I think I started at 188000000 or something and worked my way back, halving each time, like a binary search, and it took about 5 minutes. One oddity that I remember was that, at first, no changes I made seem to make any difference. I remember setting the frequency to, like, 10000, or something ridiculous, and I was still getting the channel crystal clear. So I think I disabled that channel, using the check box, and then re-enabled it again, and then I started seeing changes in picture quality as I tinkered. That seems odd, that a bug like that wouldn't be noticed, so perhaps it was me inadvertently doing something else to get it working, but that is how I remember it. Remember to try both directions, both below the frequency and above it. A key indicator that you're making good progress is when you see the signal start to degrade but audio pops back in.
