After a lot of sweat, I got NPVR running. It seems to wake up and get the EPG ok and record programs.

After starting NPVR, after a certain amount of UI interaction (go to Guide, then to Live TV, then recordings etc.) the program stops working. Navigation about the main screen continues, but none of the plugins will start.

The worst sequence appears to be going to view the Guide first. This will often render it impossible to open the recordings plugin.

The weirdest part of all is that after exiting NPVR, windows is smashed. Explorer is stuck in whatever window happens to be open. For example clicking on "C" in "My computer" causes a brief flash of the contents og the C drive, and then "My computer" is displayed again, just like some kind of "back" key had been pressed just after enter. Same thing happens in Firefox; type into a google search box and the search results change; as soon as enter is pressed google goes back to its home page.

The log looks like it is receiving continuous key presses too.

If you're got a remote, try removing the receiver to see if it helps. If that doesnt help, but you're using a wireless keyboard or remote, try removing those too. Somthing is sending keypresses, and it isnt NPVR.

The only device which qualifies in this respect is the Hauppage remote, and indeed disconnecting the sensor does fix the problem.

I guess I'm going to have to uninstall / reinstall Hauppage again ... keeping fingers crossed it doesn't smash all the codecs
