Hi,

Instead of the present scan system which adds new channels, but doesn't purge ones that are no longer broadcasting (e.g. "Channel One" in the UK), I'd like to see a "rescan" option that will purge the EPG of channels that don't broadcast anymore.

Also, could it do this to all DVB-T tuners that are coupled together (that is to say, all using the same input signal).

Can't you just delete them yourself?

I'm not sure if it would be safe for a rescan to do it. How would it be able to tell the difference between a channel that had genuinely stopped broadcasting, and one that just wasn't broadcasting at that particular moment in time (perhaps because it's not on-air 24/7).

Yes I could just delete them myself, but it'd be nicer if the computer could do something automatically by itself rather than me have to set aside time to do it manually.

Seeing as how NPVR can now populate the entire channel listing on a single scan, picking up channels that exist and are off-air, I can't see why this functionality isn't possible. It's just a matter of how difficult it is to implement.

.. versus how hard it is to do manually. Seriously are humans getting too lazy?

I'm really not seeing what the big deal is here. Every DVB-T television and set-top box I've had has a button to scan for channels that when pressed populates its menu with the latest channels and removes the ones that are no longer broadcasting. I'm just saying that it'd be convenient if NPVR worked similarly.

I would like to add how about for DVB not just DVB-T .. Transponder data often changes on DVB-S and I need to delete the old one. Add the new one. Channel map the new one. And then re do all the recording for that channel.

Even if auto-update was not feasible, a DVB-S scan flagging (somehow?) changes to an existing scan would be very useful - PIDS and transponders seem to change with some regularity and I've lost a few season recordings due to unknown (to me) changes.
