HD Homerun

Guys, please forgive the raw newb question, but I just installed NPVR v2.0.3 and am trying to use it with my HD Homerun tuner. The instructions say "visit the devices tab", but nothing is shown there (not even an ethernet listener that could be manually configured with the HDHR IP address). The forums talk about an HDHR plugin and problems with current silicondust drivers, but the NPVR plugins page has 11 plugins listed (from Programs to WebRadio) not including anything that looks related to HDHR.

FAQ and Hardware/Tuner pages are still under construction, and the Settings/Plugins checkbox page doesn't have HDHR, so I'm lost.

How do you use HDHR with NPVR?

If the Devices tab isnt listing the HDHR, then it sounds like you dont have the HDHR BDA drivers installed.

Thanks - I installed only a single HDHR file (hdhr_windows_20100828, since people reported problems with 20110323), and the QuickTV app is working properly (well, no audio yet, but that's a different issue). If QuickTV is BDA-based, I'd assume the drivers are installed - is there a way to check?

The screenshot at http://img862.imageshack.us/i/npvr.jpg/ didn't capture the video overlay, but there is working video in the QuickTV app.

I dont really know that much about the HDHR software. Does QuickTV use the BDA drivers? I dont know. It might just use the network interfaces directly.

You'd normally not have to do anything special to get the HDHR to show up in NPVR. If the BDA drivers are installed, then you'd see the tuners listed on the Setings -> Devices screen. Its common for HDHR users to find anything when scanning (due to firewall exclusions needing to be added), but you're not getting that far.

Run the HDHomeRun Set up program. It will scan for tuners. On the tuners tab, select the source type for each tuner (you don't mention if you have a dual tuner version) digital antenna or digital cable. Click the Apply or Next (whichever appears depending on whether it is the first time you used it or not). If you've not used it, scan the cable or antenna tuner for channels to verify you are receiving signals you expect. Once you've applied the settings there, you can go to NextPVR and see the devices in the settings. If you still don't see a device, stop and start the NPVR service. You should see the tuner(s) after that. Now you must configure the device(s) in NextPVR allowing it to scan for channels.

Once you've done that you can enable/disable specific channels in NPVR if you want, and do all the other wonderful things in NPVR.
